The latest generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS, unveiled in August 2022, has finally turned heads on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City. Finished in the brand’s iconic Guards Red and bearing the distinctive “GT3 RS” badge, this ultra‑high‑performance sports car marks only the third such model to hit Vietnamese roads.
Design & Heritage
Inspired by Porsche’s own 911 GT3 R and 911 RSR race cars, the new GT3 RS showcases a wide‑body silhouette, aggressive carbon‑fiber cut‑lines and a front end stripped of traditional luggage space in favor of a purpose‑built cooling system borrowed from the track. The car rides on ultra‑light GT3 RS alloy wheels—20‑inch at the front and 21‑inch at the rear—with optional finish colours such as Pyro Red, Satin Black or Indigo Blue, each adding roughly VND 40 million to the price.
While the first few units appeared in the 2024 Gumball 3000 rally, local registration only began in early 2026. Porsche’s aerodynamic package pushes the dimensions beyond those of the standard 911 Carrera to 4,572 mm length, 1,900 mm width, 1,322 mm height, and a wheelbase stretched to 2,457 mm.
Performance & Technology
Under the hood sits a naturally aspirated 4.0‑litre flat‑six boxer engine delivering 525 hp (390 kW) and 465 Nm of torque. Power reaches the rear wheels through a seven‑speed PDK dual‑clutch gearbox, propelling the GT3 RS from 0‑100 km/h in a blistering 3.2 seconds and topping out at 296 km/h.
One of the most striking features is the active rear wing, electrically controlled much like the DRS system on Formula 1 cars. Depending on speed and driver input, the wing can generate up to 409 kg of downforce at 200 km/h, climbing to a massive 860 kg at 285 km/h, dramatically enhancing grip.
The cockpit blends race‑ready functionality with everyday usability. A sport‑focused steering wheel adds rotary switches for drive mode, electronic balance, and traction control. Seats are standard carbon‑fiber bucket shells, with an optional Adaptive Sports 18‑way electric seat for a truly bespoke driving experience.
Pricing & Availability in Vietnam
Local pricing starts at VND 17.69 billion (approximately US$750,000). Fully loaded with every optional package—including the coveted Weissach Package, which alone costs around VND 2.7 billion—prices can easily surpass VND 20 billion.
According to Znews research, by the end of January 2026 at least four GT3 RS units (992.1 series) have been imported: one in black, two in white, and the currently spotted Guards Red example.
With its race‑derived DNA, eye‑catching aesthetics, and a price tag that reflects true exclusivity, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is set to become a benchmark for high‑performance supercars in Vietnam’s burgeoning luxury market.
