After weeks of speculation, the newest Porsche 911 GT3 RS has finally rolled onto the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, turning heads with its vibrant Guards Red paintwork. Valued at roughly VND 17.7 billion (around US$ 730,000), it is the third RS model confirmed on Vietnamese roads.

Launch and local debut
The 2022-2023 generation of the 911 GT3 RS was unveiled worldwide in August 2022. Collectors were drawn to its race-inspired silhouette, echoing the 911 GT3 R and 911 RSR prototypes. Although the car featured in the 2024 Gumball 3000 rally, the first units to receive Vietnamese registration only appeared in early 2026.

Design language and aerodynamic tricks
True to its track pedigree, the RS omits the front luggage compartment in favour of a sophisticated cooling system borrowed from Porsche’s factory-race cars. The body is wider than the standard Carrera, measuring 4 572 mm in length, 1 900 mm in width and 1 322 mm in height, with a wheelbase stretched to 2 457 mm.

Key aerodynamic features include a massive rear diffuser, an adjustable front splitter and a set of electrically actuated wing flaps that work like a DRS system on Formula 1 cars, delivering up to 860 kg of downforce at 285 km/h.

Wheel options feature ultra-light 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged-aluminium rims. Buyers can choose from Pyro Red, Satin Black or Indigo Blue finishes for an extra VND 40 million.

Powertrain and performance
Under the hood sits a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six boxer engine producing 525 hp at 7 500 rpm and 465 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the lightning-quick 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox.

The RS accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and tops out at 296 km/h. In 2022 the car conquered the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6 minutes 44.848 seconds, making it the third-fastest street-legal Porsche at the time.

Interior and driver-assist tech
The cabin is a blend of race-ready function and luxury. Standard bucket seats are wrapped in carbon-fiber fabric, while an optional 18-position Adaptive Sports seat offers electric adjustment. The steering wheel incorporates rotating switches for drive mode, electronic balance and traction control.

Pricing, options and local market
Base price in Vietnam starts at VND 17.69 billion. Adding the Weissach Package — a carbon-fiber-heavyweight that includes additional aero elements, chassis braces and a carbon-fiber interior trim — pushes the price close to VND 20 billion. The package alone costs about VND 2.7 billion.

According to Znews research, by the end of January 2026 at least four RS 992.1 models have been imported: one in Guards Red, two in white and one in black.

What makes the 911 GT3 RS special?
Beyond raw performance, the RS offers a rare combination of road-legal comfort and race-track DNA. Its active aerodynamics, lightweight carbon components and the optional Weissach Package give owners a taste of Porsche’s factory-team technology without stepping into a pure-racing prototype.

For enthusiasts in Southeast Asia, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS sets a new benchmark for ultra-high-performance sports cars in the region.
