Vietnam’s auto market is kicking off 2025 with a wave of promotions from Japanese manufacturers. As the Lunar New Year approaches, many buyers are seizing the chance to save thousands of dollars on new SUVs, sedans and MPVs.
Subaru: Up to VND 308 million off
Subaru continues its aggressive pricing strategy on imported models. In January, the Forester 2.0 i‑S EyeSight receives the biggest cut – VND 308 million – covering registration fees, a five‑year comprehensive insurance package, free maintenance and warranty. Lower‑trim variants (2.0 i‑L EyeSight and 2.0 i‑L) enjoy discounts ranging from VND 140 million to VND 278 million.
All discounted Foresters are sourced from Thailand, priced between VND 969 million and VND 1.199 billion. The newly launched generation, imported from Japan, starts at VND 1.299 billion.
Subaru’s compact SUV, the Crosstrek, also benefits from sizable rebates. Prices start at VND 1.098 billion (2.0 i‑S EyeSight) and VND 1.268 billion (2.0 i‑S EyeSight e‑Boxer Hybrid). Special January offers bring the price down to VND 899 million or VND 1.029 billion, equivalent to discounts of VND 218–258 million.
Honda: Up to VND 100 million in registration fee relief
Honda’s flagship incentive this month is a full waiver of the registration tax for the Civic e:HEV RS, saving buyers nearly VND 100 million. The offer applies exclusively to 2024‑VIN units.
Additional cash‑back of VND 80 million is available on the CR‑V (G and L trims). Several other models—including the City, Civic RS/G, BR‑V and HR‑V—receive a 50 % reduction on registration fees, plus one extra year of Honda’s branded hull insurance.
Mitsubishi: Cash rebates and 100 % fee waivers
The newest midsize SUV, the Destinator, replaces the Outlander and comes with a VND 35 million cash rebate for both trims, plus a VND 2 million gift set.
The refreshed Xpander AT Premium and Xpander Cross qualify for a 100 % registration‑fee waiver, translating to VND 66–70 million in savings.
Mitsubishi’s workhorse pickup, the Triton, also enjoys a full fee waiver, equating to VND 40–56 million in discount. Meanwhile, the compact SUV Xforce receives a 50‑100 % fee waiver depending on the trim, with total savings of VND 44–70 million.
Toyota: Up to VND 66 million off MPVs
Among Toyota’s lineup, the small MPVs Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio enjoy a 100 % registration‑fee rebate, worth VND 56–66 million.
The Yaris Cross and Vios benefit from a 50 % fee reduction, offering discounts of VND 33–38 million and VND 23–27 million respectively. These models were among Toyota’s best‑sellers in Vietnam last year, with the Yaris Cross delivering over 14,600 units and the Vios more than 13,400.
What This Means for Buyers
The combined effect of cash rebates, fee waivers and bundled services pushes the effective price of many Japanese‑made vehicles down by up to VND 300 million. While some models remain premium‑priced due to import origins, the incentives make them considerably more attractive for consumers planning a new‑year upgrade.
