Xiaomi confirms its first Vision Gran Turismo concept car, set for a full reveal at MWC Barcelona 2026. Discover the specs and why it matters – read more now!
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has officially announced its entry into the exclusive Vision Gran Turismo (VGT) program – the first time a Chinese automaker has contributed a concept in the 28‑year history of the franchise.

What is Vision Gran Turismo?
Launched by Polyphony Digital in 1997, Vision Gran Turismo invites world‑renowned performance marques to create dream‑car concepts for the Gran Turismo video‑game series. Past participants include Mercedes‑Benz, Ferrari, Bugatti, Dodge and Mazda. The concepts are pure design studies, free from real‑world homologation rules, allowing engineers to push aerodynamics and power to the limit.
Design leaks hint at a futuristic hypercar
Before the official debut, photographers captured a heavily camouflaged prototype parked in Barcelona. The car sported a bold “XIAOMI” logo on its wheels and featured a low‑centered cockpit, wide bodywork, and aggressive carbon‑fiber side sills. A massive rear wing and a shark‑fin antenna – elements mandatory on FIA WEC Hypercars – were also visible, suggesting a serious focus on high‑speed stability.

Other leaked details reveal a front splitter with multiple air intakes, a complex rear diffuser, and large aero vents designed to generate massive downforce. Exact figures for drag, downforce, and drivetrain configuration have not yet been released.
From SU7 Ultra to Vision Gran Turismo
Earlier this year, Xiaomi’s electric supercar SU7 Ultra completed test runs at Beijing’s Circuit, the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and Japan’s Tsukuba track. Its performance earned a spot in Gran Turismo 7, marking the first Chinese‑branded vehicle in the game.

That success paved the way for the VGT collaboration announced on June 7, 2025. While the SU7 Ultra will be produced for consumers, the upcoming Vision Gran Turismo model is a pure concept – no production homologation, no cost constraints – giving Xiaomi’s design team full creative freedom.
What to expect at MWC Barcelona 2026
The full reveal is slated for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, scheduled for early March 2026. Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun confirmed that detailed specifications will be published on March 1, 2026.

Industry insiders anticipate that the concept will showcase cutting‑edge electric powertrain technology, advanced aerodynamic solutions, and a design language that could influence future Xiaomi performance models.
Whether the Vision Gran Turismo car will ever see a production version remains uncertain, but its presence signals Xiaomi’s ambition to compete on the global high‑performance stage alongside European and Japanese supercar legends.
