Audi confirms the Concept C electric coupe will hit production within two years, promising bold design and upgraded interiors. Discover the details now.

In a recent interview with GoAuto Australia, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner firmly dismissed the circulating rumours that the brand’s all‑electric sports car project, dubbed Concept C, had been scrapped.

Production Timeline
The sleek two‑seat concept was first unveiled in September 2023. According to Döllner, Audi plans to move the model from prototype to market within the next two years.

Context: Porsche Platform Talks
Earlier speculation linked the fate of Concept C to rumours that Porsche might discontinue the fully electric 718 Cayman/Boxster, potentially affecting a shared targa‑style EV platform. Döllner clarified that Audi’s collaboration with Porsche on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture remains “undisputed” and “highly effective.”

Design Evolution
Unlike the upcoming generation of the Audi TT, the Concept C is positioned as a stand‑alone electric coupe with a power‑folding targa roof. Audi hopes the new model will generate the same cultural impact as the original TT did in 1998.

Chief Designer Massimo Frascella revealed that the display model is about 87% complete, marking a “restart” of Audi’s design language that will influence future production vehicles.
Interior Philosophy
Breaking from the trend of expansive touchscreens, the Concept C brings back a wealth of physical buttons and a compact infotainment system that can be tucked into the dashboard—an homage to early‑2010s Audi interiors.
Oscar da Silva Martins, head of Product and Technology Communications, emphasized a renewed focus on material quality after acknowledging recent declines in finish standards. “We have outperformed our own benchmarks in the past, and we’re committed to restoring that level of excellence,” he said.
Technical Foundations
The production version will sit on Volkswagen Group’s PPE Sport platform, featuring a battery pack positioned ahead of the rear axle. The concept prototype weighs roughly 1,690 kg and is powered by a rear‑mounted electric motor. A dual‑motor, all‑wheel‑drive configuration is also under development.
Looking Ahead
With these fresh confirmations from Audi’s leadership, it’s clear the company has not abandoned its ambitions in the high‑performance electric sports segment, despite intense competition and ongoing speculation about the brand’s overall EV strategy.
