Unveil the rare Bugatti W16 Mistral La Perle Rare, built for a Canadian collector. See its Vagues de Lumière finish and top speed – learn more!

The era of Bugatti’s legendary W16 engine is drawing to a close as the French automaker delivers the final few units of the W16‑powered Mistral. In December 2025, Bugatti unveiled an ultra‑exclusive masterpiece – the Bugatti W16 Mistral La Perle Rare – through its bespoke Sur Mesure program. The one‑off car was handed over to a private collector in Canada.

A One‑of‑a‑Kind Finish
The standout feature of the La Perle Rare is its exclusive “Vagues de Lumière” paintwork. Inspired by the interplay of light on water, the finish blends Ghost White with a subtle Dune‑tone gold, creating a shimmering wave effect that changes with the viewing angle.

Signature Design Details
Every element of the car mirrors the paint’s theme. The front 20‑inch and rear 21‑inch alloy wheels are hand‑finished with the same color palette, while a diamond‑cut pattern adds a touch of brilliance. The exterior also showcases a reinterpretation of Rembrandt Bugatti’s iconic “Dancing Elephant” sculpture, rendered as a delicate decorative motif that adds artistic flair.

Inside, the cabin follows the exterior’s white‑and‑cream scheme, accented with polished chrome. Leather‑wrapped doors feature the Vagues de Lumière pattern, reinforcing the car’s unique character. The “Dancing Elephant” motif reappears on the steering column and gear knob, and the model name “La Perle Rare” is embroidered onto the central armrest.

Performance That Defies Limits
At its heart beats the famed 8.0‑litre W16 engine, equipped with four turbochargers and capable of delivering 1,600 hp and 1,600 Nm of torque. Coupled with a seven‑speed dual‑clutch transmission and permanent four‑wheel drive, the Mistral rockets from 0‑100 km/h (0‑62 mph) in just 2.4 seconds.

- Top speed (EB/Autobahn mode): 380 km/h (236 mph)
- Top speed with Speed Key: 420 km/h (261 mph)
- Record‑breaking open‑top speed (Nov 2024): 453.91 km/h (282 mph)
When it launched, the Bugatti W16 Mistral started at roughly USD 5 million, with extensive personalization options easily pushing the price beyond USD 10 million.

Limited Production and Legacy
Bugatti plans to produce only 99 units of the W16 Mistral before discontinuing the engine line in favor of the upcoming Bugatti Tourbillon hypercar. The La Perle Rare, meaning “rare pearl” in French, epitomises the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship, exclusivity, and unmatched performance.
