Chinese automaker BYD is set to roll out a substantially revised version of its Atto 3 electric SUV in mid‑2026. Known locally as the Yuan Plus, the refreshed model—listed under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filing—features a larger body, a new rear‑wheel‑drive platform, upgraded powertrains, and a suite of tech enhancements.

Powertrain & Performance

The 2026 Atto 3 will be offered exclusively with rear‑wheel drive and two motor outputs:

  • 268 hp (200 kW)
  • 321 hp (240 kW)

Both variants are powered by BYD’s latest TZ200XSBR electric motor, produced at the Zhengzhou BYD Auto plant. The vehicle will continue to use BYD’s own LFP (lithium‑iron‑phosphate) battery pack supplied by the FinDreams division, though exact capacity and range figures remain undisclosed. Top speed is capped at 190 km/h (118 mph), according to MIIT data. In addition to the drivetrain shift, BYD adds new driver‑assist options, expanding the vehicle’s safety and convenience toolkit.

Dimensions & Interior Space

One of the most noticeable changes is the vehicle’s size. The new Atto 3 measures 4,665 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, and 1,675 mm tall, with a 2,770 mm wheelbase—roughly 200 mm longer than the current model. The extra length translates into a larger cargo area: 490 L of storage space, expandable to 1,360 L with the rear seats folded, plus a 101 L front compartment.

Exterior & Interior Styling

The facelift brings a refined front end: a reshaped bumper, slimmer headlights, and semi‑recessed door handles. Customers can choose between 18‑inch and 19‑inch alloy wheels. The rear lamp cluster now spans the full width of the body, giving the SUV a sleek, modern silhouette.

Inside, BYD has modestly upgraded the central console and re‑positioned the vertical air‑vent slats for a cleaner look. The cabin retains its minimalist aesthetic while adding a touch of premium feel.

Launch Timeline

According to BYD’s schedule, the Atto 3 2026 will debut around the middle of 2026, targeting the B‑plus crossover segment (compact SUVs with a higher ride height). The model is expected to be available in key global markets, including the United States, Europe, and other regions seeking affordable, long‑range electric vehicles.

With its larger footprint, rear‑wheel‑drive architecture, and refreshed design language, the BYD Atto 3 2026 aims to sharpen the brand’s competitive edge in the fast‑growing EV market.
