Japanese automaker Honda unveiled its latest electric two‑wheeler, the UC3, in Thailand on 9 January. Priced at US$4,200, the model marks Honda’s first fixed‑battery scooter in Southeast Asia and signals a bold step toward smarter urban mobility.
Launch details and price
The UC3 is being introduced initially in Thailand, the region’s first market to receive the new model. With a price tag of $4,200, the scooter targets city commuters who seek a blend of performance, convenience and eco‑friendliness. Honda has hinted that the UC3 may reach Vietnam later this year.
Battery and charging
At the heart of the UC3 is a permanently mounted LFP (lithium‑iron‑phosphate) battery pack that delivers a claimed range of 122 km on a single charge. The scooter adopts the CHAdeMO fast‑charging standard, a first for Honda’s two‑wheel lineup. Two charger options are available: a 450 W unit for overnight top‑ups and a 1 200 W rapid charger that can fill the battery in roughly three hours.
Performance and riding modes
The UC3’s electric motor, developed and built in‑house, is integrated into the rear wheel and produces roughly 8 horsepower. Riders can select from three modes – Standard, Sport and ECON – to balance speed, acceleration and energy efficiency. An additional reverse mode eases low‑speed maneuvering when parking or backing out of tight spaces.
Design highlights
Styling focuses on smooth, flowing curves that run the length of the bike, with a pronounced emphasis on the rear section. The scooter features Honda’s signature horizontal headlamp – a first for its electric range – paired with sleek, curved LED tail lights. A wide footboard and high‑set handlebars are designed for an upright, comfortable riding posture.
Charging infrastructure in Thailand
Alongside the UC3 debut, Honda is expanding its network of fixed‑battery charging stations across Thai Honda dealerships. Additional CHAdeMO fast‑charging points are being installed in shopping centres and other high‑traffic locations around Bangkok, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to a supportive electric‑vehicle ecosystem.
Production plans for Thailand and Vietnam
Manufacturing of the UC3 began at Honda’s Thailand plant in December 2025, serving both the Thai market and future exports to Vietnam. While assembly in Vietnam is slated for 2026, Honda has not disclosed the exact launch timeline for the Vietnamese market.
With the UC3, Honda aims to blend the practicality of a city scooter with the performance and environmental benefits of electric propulsion, positioning the model as an “Intelligent Urban Life Partner” for today’s commuters.
