Omoda & Jaecoo has kicked off the new year with a bang, clinching a spot among the top‑8 best‑selling brands in the United Kingdom. In January alone, the group delivered 6,696 vehicles to British customers, with the Jaecoo J7 accounting for 4,059 of those units.

Record‑breaking January for the J7

Launched in the UK market in January 2025, the rugged‑looking off‑road SUV quickly proved its appeal. Within just 12 months, the J7 sold 30,100 units, pushing the total number of Omoda & Jaecoo cars delivered in Britain to 48,087. This performance placed the J7 as the second‑best‑selling model in the country for the month, trailing only the popular Kia Sportage.

Why British Buyers Choose the J7

The J7 blends a bold, adventure‑ready exterior with a suite of powertrain options that suit a wide range of drivers:

  • AWD & AWD Individual: 1.6 L turbocharged gasoline engine, 183 hp, 275 Nm torque, paired with a 7‑speed DCT.
  • PHEV: 1.5 L TGI DHE turbo engine combined with an electric motor, delivering a combined 342 hp and 525 Nm of torque.

These specifications give the J7 the performance edge it needs to compete head‑to‑head with established players such as the Mazda CX‑5, Ford Territory, Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR‑V, Kia Sportage and Subaru Forester.

Global Reach: Beyond the UK

While many associate Chinese automotive exports with BYD, Omoda & Jaecoo is emerging as the continent’s leading exporter of passenger cars. The brand’s rapid expansion is not limited to Europe; in Vietnam, three J7 variants are already on sale – AWD, AWD Individual and a plug‑in hybrid (PHEV) – priced between VND 729 million and VND 879 million.

The Asian SUV Landscape in Vietnam

Omoda & Jaecoo aims to dominate the Chinese‑brand segment in Vietnam, targeting market leadership alongside rivals MG and BYD. However, the group still faces a sizable gap when compared with domestic and Japanese manufacturers, underscoring the competitive nature of the Southeast Asian market.

With its compelling design, versatile powertrains, and strong sales momentum, the Jaecoo J7 is shaping up to be a true challenger in the global SUV arena.
