Mercedes‑Benz has announced an ambitious 2026 product slate that could reshape the luxury automotive market. The German automaker is launching the first fully electric C‑Class, a refreshed S‑Class flagship, extensive updates to its SUV range, and a groundbreaking AMG performance EV.
S‑Class Redesign
The new S‑Class debut is scheduled for 29 January 2026, followed shortly by an ultra‑luxury Maybach variant with an elongated wheelbase and a V12 powerplant. The redesign promises upgraded interior tech, advanced driver‑assist systems, and a more sustainable powertrain mix.
First Fully Electric C‑Class
At the heart of the 2026 plan is the all‑electric C‑Class, positioning the compact executive sedan alongside Mercedes’ EQ‑GLC crossover in terms of performance and range. Early order books suggest strong demand, enough to keep production humming through the second half of the year.
SUV Facelifts and a New GLA
Mercedes will give a facelift to its flagship GLE and GLS SUVs, refreshing styling and adding the latest infotainment hardware. More notably, the compact GLA will be reborn in 2026 with both internal‑combustion and electric powertrains, effectively replacing the current EQA lineup. This move reflects the brand’s strategy to merge ICE and EV designs under a single, cohesive aesthetic.
AMG Performance EV
Mercedes‑AMG is set to unveil its first electric super‑sedan, built on a dedicated platform derived from the GT XX concept. The model will succeed the AMG GT 4‑Door Coupe and will be complemented by a high‑performance electric SUV slated for a 2027 launch.
G‑Class Cabriolet Returns
The iconic G‑Class two‑door off‑roader is making a comeback as a removable‑roof cabriolet. Mercedes expects the model to build on the record‑breaking 2025 sales figures that approached 50,000 units.
Market Outlook
These launches are designed to reverse a 9% sales dip in 2025, which saw deliveries fall to 1,800,800 units. 2026 will also see the arrival of updated CLA, CLA Shooting Brake, GLB and the electric GLC models. While official confirmation is pending, a mid‑cycle refresh of the gasoline‑powered C‑Class could also bring an upgraded AMG C63 to market.
Competitors are not standing still: BMW plans a new i3 sedan to challenge the electric C‑Class, and Audi is set to refresh its Q7, introduce a Q9, and roll out a mainstream electric model. Stay tuned as Mercedes‑Benz drives the future of luxury mobility.
