Nissan has confirmed that it will roll out its next global SUV, the Tekton, on February 4, 2026. The model is positioned as a keystone for the Japanese automaker’s rebuilding strategy in emerging markets, where the compact SUV (B‑segment) battle is at its fiercest.

Design: Patrol‑Inspired Muscle

From the first teaser images, the Tekton makes a strong visual statement. Its design language borrows from the iconic Nissan Patrol family, featuring a muscular bonnet, a widened grille with bold horizontal slats, and a full‑width LED daytime‑running light strip that sweeps across the front fascia. The signature C‑shaped headlamp assembly adds a touch of familiarity, while the rear is capped with a luminous LED tail‑lamp cluster linked by a vivid red light bar, giving the vehicle a premium, high‑impact silhouette.

Platform and Powertrain

The Tekton sits on Nissan’s CMF‑B (Common Module Family) chassis, shared with the upcoming generation of the Renault Duster. At roughly 4.3 metres in length, it slots neatly into the compact SUV segment.

Two gasoline engines are expected at launch:

  • 1.0‑litre turbocharged unit
  • 1.3‑litre turbocharged unit delivering about 156 horsepower

Both powertrains will be paired with either a manual gearbox or a smooth‑shifting CVT. Industry insiders also predict a hybrid variant will join the lineup soon, aiming to take on rivals such as Toyota’s Yaris Cross and Suzuki’s new electrified offerings.

Safety and Technology

Safety is a core selling point for the Tekton. The vehicle is slated to come equipped with six standard airbags and a Level‑2 ADAS (Advanced Driver‑Assistance Systems) suite, which includes features like adaptive cruise control, lane‑keep assist and automatic emergency braking.

Inside, the cabin embraces a tech‑forward ambience. Expect a 10.1‑inch infotainment touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic roof that floods the interior with natural light.

Market Position and Pricing

Produced at Nissan’s Indian plant for both domestic distribution and export, the Tekton is engineered to reclaim market share from competitors such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Renault Duster. Pricing is projected to be highly competitive, ranging from roughly VND 330 million to VND 540 million (approximately USD 13,000‑21,000) depending on trim and powertrain.

Launch Details

The global unveiling event, scheduled for 4 February, will be streamed live and is expected to generate considerable buzz among automotive journalists and enthusiasts worldwide. Stay tuned for full specifications, test‑drive impressions and dealer availability as the launch date approaches.
