What’s New After 12 Years?

After almost a dozen years on the market, Suzuki finally gave the Carry a proper makeover. The 2026 iteration brings sharper styling, practical upgrades, and a suite of safety tech while keeping the legendary low price point that makes the kei‑car segment so popular in Japan.

New Exterior Design

The biggest visual change is at the front. Horizontal headlamps replace the old round units, paired with a slimmer grille and a larger air‑intake opening on the bumper. The rear retains the rugged metal box with fold‑down edges, preserving the Carry’s cargo‑friendly character. The Super Carry version adds a higher roof and a slightly expanded cabin for extra headroom.

Special X Limited Edition

Among the lineup, the Super Carry X Limited stands out. It swaps the standard Suzuki badge for a bold wordmark and adds glossy black accents on the grille, front‑air intake, and fog‑lamp surrounds. Black‑tinted body graphics, steel‑colored wheel rims, and matching door handles complete the premium look.

Interior & Technology

Inside, the cabin still feels dated, but Suzuki has introduced a digital instrument cluster positioned behind the twin‑spoke steering wheel, giving it a retro‑truck vibe reminiscent of the early ’90s. While no factory infotainment system is fitted, the dash offers a cavity that can accommodate an optional 8‑inch touchscreen.

  • New cup‑holder slots below the air vents
  • Passenger‑seat armrest for added comfort
  • Fold‑down passenger seat that converts into a tabletop
  • Storage tray above the windshield

Safety Features

The refreshed Carry is equipped with a range of driver‑assist technologies:

  • Emergency braking assistance
  • Lane‑departure warning
  • Road‑sign recognition
  • Start‑up alert system
  • Emergency stop signal
  • Front and rear parking sensors

Engine, Transmission & Drivetrain

Power comes from the familiar 658 cc three‑cylinder kei‑car engine, delivering 50 hp (approximately 37 kW) and 59 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5‑speed manual gearbox or a 4‑speed automatic.

Both rear‑wheel‑drive (RWD) and all‑wheel‑drive (AWD) configurations are available. The AWD option includes a lockable differential and a new mud‑assist function, allowing the Carry to tackle rougher terrain thanks to its short wheelbase and generous 273 mm ground clearance.

Pricing, Availability & Competition

The upgraded Carry and Super Carry will hit Japanese dealerships on 23 January 2026. Their main rival remains the long‑standing Daihatsu Hijet.

  • Base Carry KC (RWD, manual) – ¥1,172,600 (≈ $7,500)
  • Super Carry Special Edition X Limited (AWD, automatic) – ¥1,800,700 (≈ $11,500)
  • Kintaro delivery van – ¥1,618,100 (≈ $10,300)
  • Low‑temperature refrigerated truck – ¥2,658,700 (≈ $17,000)

In addition to the standard models, Suzuki announced a range of accessories—black steel wheels, roof racks, side‑panel decals, chrome‑plated trim, interior décor, leather‑wrapped seats, and numerous cargo‑carrying solutions—to further customize the Carry family.
