Overview

Kuhl, the Japanese specialist in off‑road performance upgrades, unveiled its most aggressive transformation yet at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon: the Iron Build version of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. More than a visual makeover, the build raises the SUV by 178 mm, adds massive wheels, and wraps the under‑body in rugged steel protection.

Key Features

Lift and Wheels

The Iron Build employs Kuhl’s proprietary “Blocker Iron Build” method. The Prado sits on 22‑inch Kuhl Verz DR03 alloy rims paired with Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 37‑inch off‑road tyres, delivering a ground clearance of up to 399 mm—more than the AMG G 63 4×4².

A fully adjustable suspension from JAOS, a Japanese brand renowned for high‑performance off‑road components, lets owners fine‑tune ride height and damping on the fly.

Steel Body Protection

Beyond the lift, Kuhl equips the vehicle with a complete steel‑tube under‑body cage. Front and rear bumper bars, side step rails, and mud‑flaps are fashioned from 70 mm diameter steel tubes. The underside features a bespoke steel skid plate stamped with the Kuhl Racing logo.

Additional highlights include an integrated 40‑inch IPF LED roof light, an extended roof‑mounted spoiler, and a supplementary rear‑door spoiler for extra aerodynamic stability.

Pricing and Availability

The first Iron Build Prado is based on the VX trim, retaining the stock 2.7‑litre gasoline engine. The complete package is priced at ¥6.79 million (approximately $43,300 USD), of which ¥920,000 ($5,900 USD) covers the upgrade kit itself. Kuhl offers the kit both as a full‑vehicle conversion and as standalone components for owners of compatible Prado models.

Future Developments

Kuhl is already working on a lightweight FRP (fiberglass‑reinforced plastic) body kit for the Land Cruiser Prado 250. The upcoming set will feature redesigned front and rear bumpers with cut‑outs for larger wheels, as well as an expanded rear mud‑flap. These new parts are slated for debut at the Osaka Auto Fair in February 2026.

What’s Next?

With the Iron Build, Kuhl demonstrates that the Land Cruiser Prado can be transformed into a true off‑road titan without sacrificing its core reliability. Enthusiasts worldwide can now expect a blend of Japanese engineering precision and rugged, adventure‑ready aesthetics.
