Toyota and Lexus are recalling over 5,000 vehicles in Vietnam to fix a parking‑assist software glitch. Learn how owners can get a free update today.

Toyota and its luxury brand Lexus have jointly recalled more than 5,000 vehicles in Vietnam after identifying a software flaw in the parking‑assist system that could briefly freeze the rear‑view camera, raising the risk of rear‑end accidents.

What triggered the recall?

At the end of 2023, Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) announced a large‑scale recall covering 2,203 imported Toyota models. The problem lies in the parking‑assist controller, a component of the vehicle’s 360‑degree camera system (PVM). An occasional software glitch can freeze the rear‑view image when the car is reversing, or fail to display it after the next power‑on, increasing the risk of a rear‑end collision.

Models included

The recall spans several popular models produced between July 18 2023 and September 16 2025:

  • 342 Toyota Alphard vans
  • 913 Toyota Camry sedans
  • 422 Toyota Land Cruiser SUVs
  • 526 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUVs

Lexus joins the effort

Just weeks earlier, Lexus Vietnam issued a similar notice for almost 3,000 Lexus vehicles across a range of models. Those cars suffer the same parking‑assist software issue, posing a comparable safety concern.

What will happen during the service?

Owners of the affected vehicles will receive a notification from their authorized dealer, inviting them to bring the car in for an inspection. Technicians will verify the vehicle’s VIN, run diagnostics, and reinstall the latest version of the parking‑assist software. TMV estimates the whole procedure will take between 0.8 and 1 hour per car and will be performed completely free of charge.

What if you own an unofficial imported Toyota?

Even non‑official imports that fall within the affected production window will be examined. Once the vehicle’s details are approved, the dealer will provide the same complimentary update.

Next steps for owners

If you own any of the listed Toyota or Lexus models, schedule a service appointment as soon as possible. Prompt action ensures the rear‑view camera works reliably and helps keep pedestrians and other road users safe.
