Toyota Vietnam (TMV) has announced significant leadership changes effective from the beginning of 2026. In a landmark move, the company has appointed its first-ever Vietnamese Chairman.

Tiền Quốc Hào Named Chairman

Mr. Tiền Quốc Hào will assume the role of Chairman of TMV starting in January 2026. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Hào held the position of Deputy Managing Director for the Asia region and Deputy Managing Director of Toyota’s Financial Sales Division. He also served as Chairman of Toyota Asia in Singapore.

Mr. Hào concurrently holds the position of Managing Director of Toyota Financial Services (TFS) Asia. His extensive career with Toyota began in 1999 at Toyota Canada, where he has since held numerous senior leadership roles in sales and marketing for both Toyota and Lexus across North America, Japan, China, and Asia.

Educational Background

The new Chairman of TMV holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Richard Ivey School of Business, and a Chartered Director certification from the DeGroote School of Business (all in Canada).

Osamu Hirata Appointed as General Director

Also effective January 2026, Mr. Osamu Hirata will succeed Mr. Nakano Keita as General Director of Toyota Vietnam. Mr. Nakano Keita served as General Director of TMV from February 2023 to December 2025.

Osamu Hirata’s Career Journey

Mr. Hirata joined Toyota Motor Corporation in 1995 after graduating from Waseda University and spent nearly nine years in the International Business Planning Division.

In 2004, he was appointed as Deputy Manager before moving to Singapore to serve as Deputy Director of the Product Planning Division for Toyota Asia Pacific from 2005 to 2008.

He subsequently held several key positions in global and North American strategic planning, including Group Leader of the North American Department and Senior Executive Coordinator at Toyota Motor North America.

Mr. Hirata continued to hold positions as Vice President (from 2016), Project General Manager, and General Manager in the areas of sales planning and operations at Toyota Motor North America.

Most recently, he served as Corporate Vice President, responsible for Toyota and Lexus sales operations in North America until 2023. In 2024, he was appointed as General Manager of the Sales Operations and Planning Division of Toyota Motor Corporation.

These leadership changes signal Toyota Vietnam’s continued commitment to growth and its dedication to fostering local talent within its organization.
