Toyota Vietnam (TMV) has announced significant leadership changes effective from the beginning of 2026. In a landmark move, the company will welcome Tien Quoc Hao as its new President, marking the first time a person of Vietnamese origin will hold this position.
A Seasoned Leader Returns Home
Prior to his appointment as President of TMV, Mr. Tien Quoc Hao served as Deputy Managing Director for the Asia region and Deputy Managing Director of Toyota’s Financial Sales Division. He also held the position of Chairman of Toyota Asia, based in Singapore.
Mr. Hao also concurrently serves as the Managing Director of Toyota Financial Services (TFS) Asia. His extensive experience within Toyota spans over two decades.

Global Experience, Local Roots
Mr. Hao began his journey with Toyota Canada in 1999, steadily rising through the ranks and taking on key leadership roles in sales and marketing for both Toyota and Lexus across North America, Japan, China, and Asia. This global perspective will be invaluable as he leads TMV into the future.
Educational Background
Mr. Hao’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Richard Ivey School of Business, and a Chartered Director certification from the DeGroote School of Business (all in Canada).
Changes in the General Director Role
Alongside the Presidential change, Osamu Hirata will succeed Nakano Keita as the General Director of Toyota Vietnam, also effective January 2026. Mr. Nakano Keita served as General Director from February 2023 to December 2025.
Osamu Hirata’s Extensive Toyota Career
Mr. Hirata joined Toyota Motor Corporation in 1995 after graduating from Waseda University, initially working in the International Business Planning Division for nearly nine years.

In 2004, he was appointed as Deputy Manager before moving to Singapore in 2005 to take on the role of Deputy Director of Product Planning for Toyota Asia Pacific until 2008.
He subsequently held several important positions in global strategic planning and North America, including Head of the North American Department and Senior Executive Coordinator at Toyota Motor North America.
Leadership in North American Operations
Mr. Hirata continued to hold key roles, including Vice President (from 2016), Project General Manager, and General Manager in the areas of sales planning and operations at Toyota Motor North America. Most recently, he served as Corporate Vice President, responsible for Toyota and Lexus sales operations in North America until 2023. In 2024, he was appointed as the General Manager of the Sales Operations and Planning Division of Toyota Motor Corporation.
These leadership changes signal Toyota Vietnam’s commitment to growth and innovation in the Vietnamese automotive market, and the appointment of Mr. Hao represents a significant milestone for the company and the Vietnamese community.
