VinFast announced lower replacement battery prices for its VF 3 and VF 9 electric SUVs, saving owners up to $5,000. Discover the details and impact today.
Vietnam’s flagship electric‑vehicle maker VinFast has unveiled a new pricing scheme for replacement batteries on two of its flagship models – the compact VF 3 and the full‑size VF 9. Effective from 10 January, the updated prices translate into tangible savings for owners and may strengthen the brand’s after‑sales market.
VF 3 Battery Price Cut
The original replacement pack for the VF 3 was priced at 75 million Vietnamese dong (≈ $3,200). The new price is 67.8 million dong (≈ $2,900) inclusive of VAT, representing a reduction of roughly 9 percent.
The VF 3 is equipped with VinFast’s in‑house VinES battery, offering an 18.64 kWh capacity. Under the NEDC test cycle the mini‑SUV can travel about 210‑215 km on a single charge. The vehicle itself is sold for 302 million dong (≈ $13,000), and this price already includes the standard battery.

VF 9 Battery Price Cut
For the premium VF 9, the replacement battery – a 123 kWh pack supplied by CATL – now costs 402.1 million dong (≈ $17,200). This is a drop of roughly 126 million dong from the previously quoted figure.
The VF 9 comes in two versions. The Eco trim delivers a WLTP‑rated range of about 602 km, while the Plus variant extends that to roughly 626 km. In the Vietnamese market the Eco model is priced at 1.499 billion dong (≈ $64,000) and the Plus at 1.699 billion dong (≈ $72,500).
No Change for Other Models
VinFast confirmed that the battery prices for its other electric models – the VF 5/Herio, VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, and the Nerio/VF e34 – remain unchanged. The quoted prices exclude installation fees, which will be added at the service centre.
What the Cut Means for Buyers
By lowering the cost of replacement packs, VinFast is aiming to make long‑term EV ownership more affordable and to encourage timely battery upgrades. The move could also positively influence resale values and the overall perception of EV maintenance costs in Southeast Asia.
Owners interested in swapping out their batteries should contact an authorised VinFast service centre to arrange installation and to confirm the final cost, which includes labour.
