After a year of daily use, Hoàng Minh from Nghệ An shares his experience with the VinFast VF 3 – a compact electric car that feels “effortless” in the crowded streets of Vietnam.

Choosing the VF 3

For many families, the idea of an electric vehicle, especially a small one, can feel uncertain. Minh says the decision to buy the VF 3 was surprisingly natural. “We needed a city‑friendly ride. Our neighbourhood is dense, the streets are narrow and parking spots are scarce. The VF 3’s small footprint is perfect for that,” he explains.

His wife was also drawn to the car’s sleek, minimalist design. “It looks stylish without any extra accessories. I didn’t feel the need to customise it further,” she adds.

Everyday Benefits

The biggest change, according to Minh, is the “no‑stress” feeling of owning the VF 3. He no longer worries about finding a parking space or spending time searching for a spot. “I can park anywhere – even where larger cars would struggle,” he notes.

Quick errands, like grabbing a bowl of pho or picking up groceries, have become smoother. “With a regular car I’d feel hesitant, but the VF 3 fits into tight corners easily,” he says.

Performance on Longer Trips

Initially, Minh doubted a small electric motor could handle longer journeys or heavier loads. After several trips, including a weekend ride to his hometown with a substantial amount of cargo, he was impressed. “The acceleration is quick, the ride is steady, and there’s no feeling of the engine straining,” he reports.

Family Impressions

His parents, accustomed to gasoline cars, were initially surprised by the silent, smooth acceleration. Over time they grew to appreciate the quiet ride and lack of vibration. “Once you get used to it, an electric car is much easier to drive in the city than a petrol one,” Minh observes.

Charging Convenience

Charging has not been a hassle. Minh drives roughly 20 km a day, about 100 km a week, and only needs to plug in once a week. “There are many charging stations near my home, so I can top up easily. On weekends we often charge the car while having coffee,” he says.

Cost Comparison

The most noticeable difference between the VF 3 and a traditional gasoline car is cost. “Our monthly fuel bill used to be around VND 2 million. With the VF 3, we spend almost nothing on electricity, and maintenance is minimal,” Minh explains.

Who Is the VF 3 For?

After a year, Minh believes the VF 3 is best suited for urban dwellers who make short trips, as well as families that already own a larger vehicle but want a compact, eco‑friendly alternative. “It turns city commuting into a light, simple experience,” he concludes.
