Ford and Tasco Auto team up to expand EV charging access in Vietnam with 89 shared stations. See how this boosts the EV ecosystem. Read more!
In a significant move to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in Southeast Asia, Tasco Auto—the distributor for Geely brands including Lynk & Co and Zeekr—and Ford have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This strategic partnership focuses on the shared use of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across Vietnam, aiming to eliminate “range anxiety” for drivers.
A Strategic Alliance for Seamless Mobility
The collaboration was recently hinted at during Ford’s announcement regarding price adjustments for the Mustang Mach-E. By joining forces, Ford and Tasco Auto are creating a synergistic ecosystem where owners of both battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) can access a wider network of charging points.
Central to this partnership is the integration of the VETC application. This digital tool will serve as a one-stop hub for users to:

- Locate the nearest available charging stations via real-time GPS.
- Check the current status of charging piles and available plugs.
- Manage payments automatically, providing Ford EV users with a streamlined billing experience through the Tasco-powered VETC system.
Rapid Expansion: From 32 to 89 Charging Points
The scale of the network is growing rapidly to meet the increasing demand for green energy. As of April, the combined network of Ford and Tasco Auto already featured 32 DC fast-charging stations nationwide.
The roadmap for the remainder of the year is ambitious. Tasco Auto plans to complete the installation of chargers across all its brand showrooms, bringing its individual total to 55 stations. Simultaneously, Ford is finalizing the deployment of 34 additional stations. By the end of the year, drivers from both camps will have access to a comprehensive network of 89 shared charging points.
Diverse Vehicle Portfolios Driving the Shift
While Ford currently focuses its electric offering in Vietnam on the high-performance Mustang Mach-E SUV, Tasco Auto is bringing a diverse array of new energy vehicles (NEVs) to the market. Tasco’s current portfolio includes the Lynk & Co 08, Volvo EC40, and Geely EX2 and EX5.
The momentum is set to increase as Tasco prepares to introduce two more luxury Geely Auto subsidiaries to Vietnam: Lotus and Zeekr. International enthusiasts can expect to see high-end electric models such as the Zeekr 7X, Zeekr 009, and the Lotus Eletre hitting Vietnamese roads soon.
The Bottom Line
This partnership between Ford and Tasco Auto represents more than just a technical agreement; it is a critical step in building a sustainable automotive ecosystem in Vietnam. By sharing infrastructure, these industry giants are making EV ownership more practical and attractive for the general public, paving the way for a greener future in the region.
