Two years after its debut, Hyundai is already teasing a mid‑cycle refresh for the Santa Fe SUV. Images spotted in Europe show a more daring front end, updated lighting and hints of a new electrified powertrain that could arrive as early as next year.

Exterior redesign

The facelift drops the signature H‑shaped daytime running lights for slimmer, lower‑mounted units. This redesign frees up space for a considerably wider grille, giving the front fascia a bolder, more premium presence. At the rear, the old H‑type LED clusters are replaced by sleek, vertically‑oriented light bars, creating a fresh, contemporary look.

Interior and technology upgrades

While the cabin details remain under wraps, industry insiders believe Hyundai will equip the refreshed Santa Fe with the next‑generation Pleas Connect infotainment system. Built on Android Automotive OS, the platform promises seamless smartphone integration, over‑the‑air updates and a range of connected services slated for launch later this year.

Powertrain options

Beyond styling, the biggest news is the potential addition of an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) setup. The new hybrid‑electric variant would join the existing engine lineup:

  • 2.5‑litre turbo‑charged inline‑4 – 277 hp, 421 Nm of torque
  • 1.6‑litre turbo hybrid – 231 hp, 367 Nm of torque
  • EREV system (specs pending) – combines a modest electric motor with the existing gasoline engine for improved fuel economy and low‑emission driving.

Market outlook

In Vietnam, the current Santa Fe lineup spans five trims priced between VND 1.069 billion and VND 1.369 billion. However, sales have slipped to 2,622 units in 2024, down from the roughly 7,000 units recorded a year earlier. The upcoming facelift, especially with an electrified option, could be Hyundai’s answer to reviving interest in the midsize SUV segment.

With a fresh look, upgraded tech and a possible hybrid‑electric powertrain, the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe is shaping up to be a strong contender in the global SUV market.
