Kia has officially unveiled the highly anticipated 2026 Seltos, launching it first in the Indian market. Starting at approximately $13,000 (1,099 million rupees) and topping out around $24,000 (1,999 million rupees), the new Seltos boasts a significant upgrade thanks to its new K3 platform.
Bigger and Bolder Design
The next-generation Seltos has grown in size, offering more space and comfort. It now measures 4.430mm in length, 1.830mm in width, and 1.600mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2.690mm. Compared to the current model available in Vietnam, the 2026 Seltos is 65mm longer, 30mm wider, and has an 80mm longer wheelbase, though it’s 45mm lower.
This puts the Seltos firmly in the B+ CUV segment, directly competing with models like the Toyota Corolla Cross. For comparison, the European Kia Sportage measures 4.515mm long, 1.865mm wide, and 1.645mm high, while the Vietnamese version is slightly larger (4.660 x 1.865 x 1.665mm with a 2.755mm wheelbase). The gap between the Seltos and Sportage, particularly in Europe, has noticeably narrowed.
“Opposites United” Design Language
The new Seltos embraces Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, resulting in a more assertive and SUV-focused appearance. The front end is dominated by a large grille, complemented by new LED headlights and distinctive “Star Map” daytime running lights. Black cladding enhances the rugged aesthetic.
The profile echoes the Kia EV5, featuring flush door handles and prominent black body cladding. A dynamic roofline and new rear door garnish add a sporty touch.
The rear of the vehicle has been significantly redesigned with new LED taillights and a refined tailgate. The overall look is reminiscent of Kia’s latest hybrid and electric models.
Trim Levels: GT-Line and X-Line
Beyond the standard model, the Seltos offers two additional trims: the GT-Line, which emphasizes sporty styling with body-colored details, and the X-Line, geared towards off-road adventures with a dark gunmetal finish. Three new exterior color options are also available: Iceberg Green, Gravity Gray, and Matte Magma Red.
A Tech-Forward Interior
The cabin of the Kia Seltos has been completely overhauled, taking inspiration from Kia’s electric vehicle lineup. A dual 12.3-inch screen setup combines the instrument cluster and infotainment system, with a separate panel for climate control positioned between the speedometer and the infotainment screen.
The infotainment system supports over-the-air (OTA) updates and integrates an AI assistant. Premium features include a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display (HUD), a high-end Harman Kardon or Bose sound system, 64-color ambient lighting, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
Engine Options
Under the hood, the 2026 Seltos continues to offer a range of engine choices, including a 1.5L naturally aspirated gasoline engine, a 1.5L diesel engine, and a powerful 1.5L Turbo gasoline engine – the most potent in its class. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual), and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
Coming Soon to Other Markets?
The launch of the Seltos 2026 in India often foreshadows updates in other markets, including Southeast Asia and Vietnam. With its enhanced features and competitive pricing, the 2026 Seltos is expected to remain a key contributor to Kia’s sales success in the years to come.
