Toyota has unveiled a truly special version of its acclaimed hot hatch – the GR Yaris Sebastien Ogier 9x Champion Edition. Built to honour French rally star Sébastien Ogier’s ninth World Rally Championship title expected in 2025, this limited‑run model blends race‑track DNA with everyday usability.

Design that echoes a rally podium
The edition is based on the GR Yaris Aero Performance Package, but it receives a suite of bespoke touches chosen by Ogier himself. The most striking is the matte Black Gravité paint, a nod to the Yaris WRC livery he will pilot next season. A subtle French flag adorns the front grille, reminding observers of the champion’s heritage.

Finishing touches include 18‑inch BBS multi‑spoke wheels in the same matte black, a high‑performance brake caliper painted in rally‑blue, and a special badge on the lower body panels. Inside the boot, a commemorative emblem and a windshield signature from Toyota’s president, Morizo, add extra exclusivity.

Driver‑focused cockpit
The steering wheel is slightly smaller than the standard version and features dedicated switches for the new drive modes. Its dark‑tinted finish matches the overall “stealth” aesthetic. The centre console gains a rotary selector that toggles between three modes: Normal, SEB. (dedicated to Ogier) and MORIZO (a tribute to the company’s chairman).

Wrap‑around sport seats are upholstered in premium leather and Alcantara, stitched in the French tricolour (white, blue, red) with the GR logo embroidered on each headrest. The instrument cluster is highlighted with a badge that reads “Sébastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition”, alongside the driver’s signature and the car’s unique serial number.

Powertrain and performance
Under the hood, the car retains the 1.6‑litre turbocharged inline‑three engine, delivering 304 hp and a robust 400 Nm of torque. Power is sent through a six‑speed manual gearbox, complemented by a leather‑wrapped handbrake that bears subtle grey stitching – a visual cue of its rally pedigree.

What truly sets this edition apart is its bespoke all‑wheel‑drive system, featuring two new drive modes. SEB. replaces the standard TRACK mode, allocating torque 40:60 between front and rear axles for sharper cornering. MORIZO takes the place of the GRAVEL setting, maximising front‑to‑rear grip during acceleration and easing torque transfer when braking to optimise traction and corner entry.

Limited production – a true collector’s item
Only 100 units will be built for the Japanese market, distributed via a lucky‑draw lottery. An additional 100 examples will be made available to European rally enthusiasts, ensuring the model remains an exclusive prize for true fans.

Why it matters
The GR Yaris Sebastien Ogier 9x Champion Edition is more than a celebratory badge; it showcases how a road‑legal hot hatch can inherit genuine rally technology while staying drivable on everyday streets. For collectors and performance hunters alike, it represents a rare convergence of motorsport history and cutting‑edge engineering.
