Toyota’s latest RAV4 hybrid with all‑wheel drive and a 236 hp powertrain joins the Philippines EV list, signalling an upcoming launch. Find out more today!

The sixth‑generation Toyota RAV4 is edging closer to a debut in Southeast Asia after the Philippines Department of Energy (DOE) officially added the model to its list of recognised electric vehicles.

DOE Recognition Fuels Launch Expectations

In a recent update, the DOE listed the new RAV4 hybrid among approved EVs, confirming that the vehicle meets the country’s electrification standards. While the list currently only names the two self‑charging hybrid trims – ADV and LTD – the inclusion is a strong hint that Toyota is preparing for a market entry.

Powertrain: Hybrid‑Electric Meets All‑Wheel Drive

The 2025‑year global rollout introduced a dramatically refreshed RAV4 with a 2.5‑litre four‑cylinder engine paired with an upgraded hybrid system. Together with dual electric motors and a 1.09 kWh battery, the setup delivers roughly 236 hp, a noticeable jump from the 176 hp produced by the conventional gasoline version.

Both the ADV and LTD variants come standard with permanent all‑wheel drive, ensuring the crossover can handle both city streets and more rugged terrain.

Trim Line‑up: LTD for Everyday Use, ADV for Adventure

The LTD model is positioned as the baseline choice, offering a balanced blend of comfort and efficiency. In contrast, the ADV trim leans into an outdoor‑oriented aesthetic, featuring a rugged front fascia, higher ground clearance, and adventure‑ready accessories.

Both trims showcase a newly designed lighting system that gives the front end a sharper, more modern look.

Launch Timing and Market Context

Toyota Philippines has not yet issued a formal announcement regarding the new RAV4’s local release. However, the recent confirmation of upcoming hybrid versions of the Land Cruiser 300 and Land Cruiser Prado suggests the company is expanding its electrified portfolio, making a RAV4 launch plausible in the near future.

What This Means for Vietnam

Currently, the RAV4 is not officially sold in Vietnam, where the Corolla Cross occupies a similar size segment. The new hybrid RAV4 would sit slightly above the Corolla Cross in price and positioning, leaving its Vietnamese debut uncertain. Enthusiasts will be watching regional developments closely.

Stay tuned for further updates as Toyota prepares to bring its hybrid‑electric crossover to the Philippine market and potentially beyond.
