Discover Hyundai’s new Staria Electric Camper with a 520 W solar roof, 400 km range and luxury amenities – explore the future of off‑grid travel today.

Introducing the Staria Electric Camper

At the recent CMT exhibition in Germany, Hyundai revealed a bold new concept: the Staria Electric Camper, a fully electric mobile home built on the platform of the Staria EV MPV. Designed for adventurous, eco‑conscious travellers, the vehicle blends premium comfort with cutting‑edge sustainability.

Powertrain, Range and Fast Charging

The camper inherits the Staria Electric’s high‑voltage 800 V architecture – the same system used in the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6 and IONIQ 9. A 215‑horsepower front‑mounted electric motor delivers smooth performance, while the WLTP‑tested battery offers an estimated 400 km (250 mi) on a single charge. Hyundai claims this is among the best range figures for electric MPVs today. Thanks to the 800 V platform, DC fast charging can boost the battery from 10 % to 80 % in roughly 20 minutes.

Solar Roof: Powering the Journey Off‑Grid

A standout feature is the pop‑up roof equipped with a 520‑W solar panel array. Under average sunshine of about five hours per day, the system can generate up to 2.6 kWh of electricity. This energy can either top up the main battery – extending driving range – or run auxiliary services when the camper is parked away from the grid.

Luxury Interior and Outdoor Living Space

The pop‑up roof opens at the press of a button, instantly expanding the living area and providing a convenient passage to the kitchen zone. Inside, the camper boasts a 36‑litre fridge, a portable shower, and an independent climate‑control system for the cabin.

Smart rear glass can be tinted on demand via a dedicated touchscreen, allowing occupants to regulate sunlight and UV exposure while maintaining a clear view when desired.

Smart Connectivity and Comfort Features

Beyond the solar roof, Hyundai fitted the camper with acoustic‑enhanced suspension to dampen road noise, ensuring a quiet ride. The vehicle’s infotainment suite integrates with the solar management system, letting users monitor energy production and consumption in real time.

Market Outlook

Currently presented as a concept, the Staria Electric Camper will remain on display at CMT 2026 for further evaluation. Hyundai says the model is primarily aimed at the European market, and a decision on production will depend on visitor feedback and commercial viability studies.

What This Means for Eco‑Travelers

If brought to market, the Staria Electric Camper could set a new benchmark for sustainable adventure travel, offering a truly off‑grid experience without compromising on luxury or performance.
