The Geely Coolray Facelift arrives in new markets with a power boost and fresh design. Will it hit Vietnam soon? Explore the full specs here!

The Geely Coolray is continuing its global expansion. Following successful launches in Malaysia and Brunei, the facelifted model has now made its way to Trinidad and Tobago. In these markets, the vehicle is rebranded and sold as the Proton X50, with the latest offering available exclusively in the high-end Premium trim.

Refined Exterior Design

The Geely Coolray facelift introduces several striking visual updates that set it apart from previous iterations. The most prominent change is the front fascia, featuring a significantly larger grille with a bold horizontal pattern that enhances the vehicle’s road presence.

To lean into a more sporty aesthetic, the facelift includes:

  • Sleek silver roof rails for a rugged, adventurous look.
  • Eye-catching red brake calipers that signal performance.
  • 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that provide a modern, sophisticated touch.

A Tech-Forward Interior

Inside the cabin, the Coolray facelift emphasizes comfort and connectivity. The interior is designed to appeal to tech-savvy drivers, offering a blend of luxury and utility. Key interior highlights include:

  • A 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat upholstered in premium synthetic leather.
  • Customizable ambient lighting to set the mood for every journey.
  • A high-fidelity 6-speaker audio system and a convenient power tailgate.
  • A large center touchscreen infotainment system integrated with a 360-degree camera for effortless parking and safety.

It is worth noting that in certain markets, some high-end features—such as the signature “Batmobile” rear wing, dual-tone interior themes, black headliners, and wireless charging—have been omitted to keep the pricing competitive.

Enhanced Performance and Engineering

Under the hood, the SUV is powered by a potent 1.5L i-GT turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This powertrain delivers an impressive 181 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque, allowing the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds—a slight improvement over the version currently available in Southeast Asian markets.

The driving experience is further refined thanks to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7-speed wet DCT). This setup ensures smoother shifts, reduced noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), and a more responsive throttle feel compared to its predecessor.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Safety remains a priority for Geely. The facelifted Coolray comes equipped with a comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) to prevent collisions.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) for stress-free highway driving.
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for real-time safety alerts.

Will the Geely Coolray Facelift Come to Vietnam?

There is significant anticipation regarding the model’s arrival in Vietnam. While the official distributor, Tasco, has yet to confirm a launch date, leaked images on social media suggest that the facelifted Coolray has already been spotted within the country.

If launched with a competitive pricing strategy similar to the current generation (which retails between 538 and 628 million VND), the Coolray facelift is expected to be a strong contender in the B-SUV segment. It will face stiff competition from established rivals such as the Mitsubishi Xforce, Toyota Yaris Cross, Mazda CX-3, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the Omoda C5.
