Porsche is further accelerating its transition to electric mobility in Southeast Asia. Following the successful rollout of the Taycan and the Macan EV, the brand has officially opened pre-orders for the all-electric Porsche Cayenne in Vietnam, marking a significant milestone for luxury EV enthusiasts in the region.

First teased at the Bangkok International Motor Show, the Cayenne EV is poised for a full market release across Southeast Asia starting in late March. This isn’t just a battery-powered version of a familiar favorite; it is a reimagined powerhouse.

A Ground-Up Engineering Marvel

Unlike previous transitions, the Cayenne EV is not simply a converted internal combustion engine (ICE) model. It has been developed on an entirely new chassis platform. While it retains the iconic Porsche design language that enthusiasts love, the dimensions have been optimized for an electric future.

  • Increased Length: 55mm longer than the gasoline version.
  • Enhanced Wheelbase: Increased by 13mm to a total of 3,023mm, providing superior interior space and stability.

A Futuristic Digital Cockpit

Inside, the Cayenne EV transforms the driving experience into a high-tech sanctuary. The cabin is dominated by a sophisticated digital ecosystem designed for both the driver and passengers:

  • Driver’s Display: A stunning 14.25-inch OLED digital instrument cluster.
  • Central Hub: An expansive, curved touch-sensitive center display.
  • Passenger Experience: An optional 14.9-inch screen dedicated to the front passenger.
  • Next-Gen HUD: An Augmented Reality (AR) Head-Up Display that can project visuals up to 87 inches, blending navigation and data seamlessly with the road.

Performance Tiers: From Powerful to Phenomenal

The Cayenne EV lineup offers three distinct trim levels to cater to different driving appetites, ranging from daily luxury to track-ready performance.

1. Cayenne EV (Standard)

The entry-level model delivers a robust 300 kW (407 hp) in standard mode, jumping to 325 kW (441 hp) and 835 Nm of torque when Launch Control is engaged. It sprints from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 230 km/h.

2. Cayenne EV S

Stepping up to the S variant, the rear-axle motor pumps out 544 hp, peaking at 666 hp via Launch Control. This version slashes the 0-100 km/h time to just 3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 km/h.

3. Cayenne EV Turbo

The pinnacle of the range, the Turbo variant is a beast of performance. It produces a staggering 1,156 hp and 1,500 Nm of torque. The acceleration is nearly instantaneous: 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h in a breathtaking 7.4 seconds, with a top speed of 260 km/h.

Battery, Range, and Market Positioning

Powering these machines is a high-voltage 113 kWh battery pack. Depending on the configuration, the Cayenne EV offers an impressive WLTP range of between 623 km and 642 km on a single charge, making it viable for both city commutes and long-distance touring.

Pricing in Vietnam

The Porsche Cayenne EV enters the market with the following starting prices:

  • Standard: 4.72 billion VND
  • S Model: 4.93 billion VND
  • Turbo: 6.32 billion VND

Note: These prices exclude personalized options available through the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur program.

The Competition

With its blend of prestige, performance, and range, the Cayenne EV is set to compete head-to-head with other heavyweights in the luxury electric SUV segment, including the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, Audi Q8 e-tron, and the BMW iX.
