According to the industry tracker Motorcycles Data, the five manufacturers that dominate global two‑wheel sales have stayed the same through the first four months of 2026. The rankings draw on registration figures from 98 markets worldwide.

1. Honda – Unshakable Leader

Honda remains the powerhouse of the motorcycle world, moving roughly 7.35 million units between January and April 2026. In 2025 the Japanese giant shipped more than 20 million bikes, securing about 40 % of the global market share. Vietnam alone accounted for over 2.2 million motorcycles, contributing roughly 11 % of Honda’s total sales.

2. Hero MotoCorp – The Closest Challenger

India’s Hero MotoCorp is the second‑largest seller, with sales near 2 million motorcycles in the same period—about 27 % of Honda’s volume. Hero posted a robust 17.6 % year‑over‑year growth, allowing it to overtake Yamaha for the second spot.

3. Yamaha – Steady but Slowing

Yamaha recorded approximately 1.7 million units, a modest 4.6 % increase compared with the first four months of 2025. The slower pace opened the door for Hero’s surge.

4. TVS Motor – Riding India’s Demand

TVS, another Indian manufacturer, rounds out the top‑four list. While most of its sales are domestic, the sheer size of India’s two‑wheel market keeps TVS firmly in the global top five.

5. Yadea – The Electric‑Only Contender

China‑based Yadea is the only brand in the top five that sells exclusively electric two‑wheelers. It delivered about 1.36 million electric scooters in early 2026, expanding rapidly in Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam and Indonesia—the region’s biggest new‑bike markets.

Beyond the Top Five

Motorcycles Data also lists the next tier of manufacturers without exact figures: Bajaj (India), Suzuki (Japan), Royal Enfield (India), NIU (China) and Italika (Mexico). Vietnamese EV maker VinFast jumped from 53rd in 2025 to 13th in early 2026, posting a staggering 205 % YoY growth (around three‑times higher sales). In 2025 VinFast sold 406,453 units domestically and has now produced its one‑millionth electric scooter since the launch of the Klara model in 2018.

These figures highlight how traditional combustion‑engine giants still dominate, while electric‑only brands and fast‑growing newcomers are reshaping the competitive landscape.
