VinFast is scaling rapidly in India, Philippines, and Indonesia. Discover how the Vietnamese EV giant is conquering the Asian market. Read more!
VinFast has already established itself as a dominant force in its home market of Vietnam. However, the company’s ambitions extend far beyond its borders. By leveraging a bold strategy and aggressive infrastructure investment, VinFast is rapidly gaining traction across the most promising electric vehicle (EV) markets in Asia.
Dominating the Home Front
In Vietnam, VinFast’s success is no longer a surprise. By the end of the first quarter, the company recorded cumulative sales of 53,684 vehicles. The MPV Limo Green has emerged as a primary driver of this growth, with 12,471 units sold, signaling strong consumer confidence in the brand’s versatility.

Strategic Penetration into India
India, a market of over a billion people, is a key pillar of VinFast’s international roadmap. In February alone, the company recorded sales of 13,683 units, propelling it into the top four best-selling EV brands in the country.
Unlike many competitors who rely on imports, VinFast is investing in long-term sustainability by building a massive 160-hectare manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. With an annual capacity of 50,000 vehicles, this facility proves that VinFast is committed to the Indian market for the long haul.
The Product Roadmap for India:
- Current Focus: The strategic rollout of the VF 6 and VF 7 SUVs, supported by competitive pricing and comprehensive after-sales services.
- Future Expansion: By 2026, VinFast plans to introduce the VF 3, VF 5, and the Limo Green MPV to cover every price segment and capture a leading market share.
Winning Hearts in the Philippines
The Philippines currently stands as one of VinFast’s most successful international ventures. The brand has already secured a spot as the second best-selling pure EV brand in the country, outperforming established giants from Japan and South Korea.

The star of the show has been the VF 3 mini SUV. In mid-March, local automotive news outlets reported that the VF 3 was completely sold out due to overwhelming demand, with dealerships reporting a surge in both online orders and showroom visits.
VinFast’s success in the Philippines is the result of a holistic ecosystem approach:
- Green GSM: The launch of a pure electric taxi service to increase brand visibility.
- Infrastructure: The rapid deployment of a national charging network.
- Customer Incentives: Offering extended free charging programs to lower the barrier to entry for new EV owners.
Scaling Up in Indonesia
Indonesia is the next frontier where VinFast is seeing promising results, currently ranking as the third best-selling pure EV brand. The company is aggressively expanding its footprint, particularly in tourist hubs like Bali through its electric taxi services.

To solidify its presence, VinFast has partnered with 22 new dealerships to distribute popular models such as the VF 3, VF 5, and VF e34. Furthermore, the company has announced an ambitious plan to install 63,000 charging stations to support both individual owners and commercial drivers from Green GSM and third-party partners.
Diversifying into E-Bikes
Beyond cars, VinFast is eyeing the two-wheeler market in Indonesia. The company has partnered with six distributors to launch a range of electric scooters featuring a convenient battery-swapping model, including:
- VinFast Flazz
- VinFast Evo
- VinFast Feliz II
- VinFast Viper
The Blueprint for Global Success
The impressive numbers from India, the Philippines, and Indonesia demonstrate VinFast’s maturity as a global player. By adapting its “home-grown” success formula—combining local manufacturing, aggressive infrastructure development, and an integrated service ecosystem—VinFast is becoming a formidable competitor to legacy automotive brands.
While the global EV race remains challenging, VinFast is proving that a Vietnamese brand can not only compete but lead on the international stage.
