The Vietnamese automotive market just got a dose of cuteness and efficiency. TMT Motors has officially introduced the Wuling Macaron, a compact electric vehicle (EV) designed specifically for the hustle and bustle of urban living. With its playful aesthetic and highly competitive pricing, the Macaron is positioning itself as a top choice for city dwellers looking for a sustainable way to commute.

A Chic Design Tailored for Urban Life

Taking a page from the success of the Bingo and MiniEV, the Wuling Macaron embraces a “cute” and feminine design language. Characterized by soft, rounded lines and a compact footprint, the car is aimed squarely at young professionals and female drivers. To complement its stylish look, the Macaron comes in a variety of trend-setting colors, including pastel pink, light blue, and cream white.

Despite its mini stature, the Macaron remains practical. It features a wheelbase of 2,190 mm and an overall length of approximately 3,256 mm, comfortably accommodating four passengers in its cozy interior.

Two Versions, Two Experiences: The 205 and 300

TMT Motors is offering the Wuling Macaron in two distinct trim levels, named after their respective driving ranges: the 205 and the 300. While they look identical on the outside, the magic happens inside the cabin.

  • The 205 Edition: Designed for simplicity, this version features a digital information display behind the steering wheel and large, intuitive physical buttons at the center of the dashboard for ease of use.
  • The 300 Edition: For those seeking a more tech-forward experience, the 300 trim boasts a dual-screen setup, featuring a 7-inch driver display and an 8-inch central infotainment touchscreen.

Performance and Rapid Charging

Under the hood, the Macaron is powered by an electric motor delivering approximately 40 horsepower, allowing it to reach a top speed of 100 km/h—more than enough for city traffic. As the names suggest, the battery options provide a range of either 205 km or 300 km per full charge.

Perhaps the most significant upgrade for this model is the inclusion of DC fast charging. This allows users to charge the battery from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes. Furthermore, the car utilizes the CCS2 charging port, ensuring compatibility with the most common charging standards found throughout Vietnam.

Pricing and Market Positioning

The Wuling Macaron enters the market with a highly aggressive pricing strategy. The two versions are priced at 269 million VND and 329 million VND (approximately $10,600 to $13,000 USD).

Positioned strategically between the BYD Atto 2 and the VinFast VF 3, the Macaron is expected to capture a significant share of the budget EV segment. With deliveries scheduled to begin in April, the car’s success will likely depend on TMT Motors’ ability to provide stellar after-sales service and effective marketing.

Building a Green Ecosystem

To support the rollout of the Macaron, TMT Motors is not just selling cars; they are building infrastructure. The company has already begun installing charging stations in major cities and is pursuing an “allied charging network” strategy with other EV manufacturers. Their ambitious goal is to establish approximately 30,000 charging pillars nationwide, removing range anxiety and paving the way for mass EV adoption in Vietnam.
