Hyundai is bringing a splash of childhood nostalgia to its latest models, partnering with the Pokemon franchise to launch two limited‑edition digital‑display themes. Priced at about $21 (USD) each, the Pokemon Pikachu Quick Attack and Pokemon Ditto World packages transform the vehicle’s 12.3‑inch digital instrument cluster and central infotainment screen into a vibrant, animated playground.

What the Pokemon Themes Change

These aren’t simple wallpaper swaps. Every visual element—menu icons, navigation maps, startup greetings, and even the transition animations—has been re‑styled to match the chosen Pokemon universe. The Pikachu theme puts the beloved electric mouse front and center, complete with customizable welcome and goodbye animations that trigger when the driver enters or exits the car. The Ditto theme adopts a softer, pastel‑purple palette, featuring the shape‑shifting Pokemon along with familiar faces like Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Snorlue, Meowth and Spheal.

How to Get the Themes

Both themes are currently exclusive to the South Korean market and can be purchased through Hyundai’s BlueLink app or online store. After purchase, owners can enable or disable the Pokemon UI from the vehicle’s customization settings, and the theme is tied to the driver’s Hyundai account for easy re‑activation on any compatible model.

Compatible Models

At launch, the Pokemon packages are only compatible with a select lineup of Hyundai’s premium and electric vehicles, including:

  • Hyundai Staria
  • Hyundai Sonata
  • Hyundai Palisade
  • Hyundai Nexo (hydrogen‑fuel cell)
  • Hyundai Ioniq 6
  • Hyundai Ioniq 9

Hyundai has hinted that additional models may receive support in future software updates.

Pricing and Availability

The company announced a uniform price of roughly US$21 per theme. Payments are processed through the BlueLink platform, and the digital skin becomes instantly downloadable once the transaction is confirmed.

International Outlook

Hyundai has not yet disclosed plans to roll out the Pokemon themes outside of Korea. However, industry analysts suggest that, should licensing agreements expand, the company could introduce the packages to European and North American markets in later years.

Why It Matters

This collaboration showcases how automakers are turning vehicle interiors into customizable, lifestyle‑driven experiences. By leveraging a globally recognized pop‑culture brand, Hyundai not only creates a new revenue stream but also strengthens brand relevance among younger, tech‑savvy drivers.

For now, fans of Pokemon and Hyundai alike can enjoy a playful twist on daily commuting—provided they’re in South Korea and own one of the supported models.
