After months of speculation, the 2026 Honda City finally made its global debut, launching first in India. The compact B‑segment sedan arrives with a complete makeover—new styling, upgraded equipment, and cutting‑edge safety tech—while offering both traditional gasoline and hybrid powertrains.

Bold New Exterior

The most noticeable change is the front fascia. The classic large chrome bar is gone, replaced by an extended honey‑comb grille framed by slimmer LED headlamps. A full‑width LED daytime running light stretches across the bumper, giving the City a modern, upscale presence.

Sportier, vertically‑oriented air intakes reshape the front and rear spoilers. The signature U‑shaped LED taillights stay, but a fresh graphics package and a small roof‑mount spoiler add a dynamic touch. New 16‑inch alloy wheels are offered in two colour finishes.

Refined Interior & Tech

Inside, practicality remains key, but comfort and connectivity get a lift. A 10.1‑inch floating touchscreen now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top‑spec ZX+ trim adds ventilated front seats, ambient interior lighting, a USB‑C charging port, a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, an eight‑speaker audio system, a panoramic sunroof, and rear sunshades.

Honda Sensing Becomes Standard

Honda’s advanced safety suite, Honda Sensing, is now standard across all trims. It includes Collision Mitigation Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and more. Higher trims receive a 360‑degree camera and LaneWatch side‑view assistance.

Powertrain Choices

  • 1.5‑litre naturally aspirated gasoline: 119 hp, 145 Nm torque. Available with a 6‑speed manual or 7‑speed CVT.
  • e:HEV hybrid: 1.5‑litre engine paired with an electric motor for a combined 126 hp and 253 Nm torque, mated to an e‑CVT.

Pricing & Availability

In India, the 2026 City is offered in four trims—SV, V, ZX, and ZX+ e:HEV—priced between $12,500 and $21,900. The hybrid ZX+ e:HEV sits at the top of the range, delivering the best fuel economy and the fullest list of features.

Why It Matters

While many B‑segment rivals are losing ground to compact crossovers, Honda is doubling down on the sedan formula. By packing the City with more equipment, modern design cues, and a hybrid option, the automaker aims to keep the model competitive and position it as one of the safest cars in its class.
