Meet the Lexus TZ, a 3-row luxury electric SUV featuring a V10 engine sound simulation and 483km range. Discover the future of Lexus EVs here!
Lexus is taking a bold leap into the electric era with the unveiling of the Lexus TZ. This isn’t just another battery-powered vehicle; it marks the brand’s first-ever all-electric three-row SUV, blending sustainable mobility with the visceral thrill of a high-performance engine.

A Supercar Heart in an Electric Body
Perhaps the most striking feature of the Lexus TZ is its auditory experience. In a move to preserve the emotional connection between driver and machine, Lexus has integrated a V10 engine sound simulation. This feature replicates the legendary, high-pitched scream of the Lexus LFA supercar, ensuring that the transition to electric power doesn’t mean sacrificing the excitement of the drive.
According to Brand Director Simon Humphries, this evocative sound profile will be available as an “on-demand” option, allowing drivers to toggle between serene electric silence and supercar aggression.

Imposing Presence and Aerodynamic Precision
The Lexus TZ is built for presence. Measuring 5,100 mm in length, it matches the stature of the flagship LX. However, thanks to a refined TNGA platform that pushes the wheels to the furthest corners of the chassis, the TZ boasts a significantly longer wheelbase of 3,050 mm—surpassing the LX by 200 mm.
Despite its bold, boxy silhouette, Lexus has engineered the TZ for efficiency. It achieves a remarkably low drag coefficient of 0.27, thanks to several aerodynamic enhancements:

- Flush-mounted door handles for seamless airflow.
- Aerodynamically optimized side mirrors.
- Specialized underbody air guides.
- Available 20 or 22-inch alloy wheels wrapped in low-rolling-resistance tires.
First-Class Luxury for Every Passenger
Inside, the Lexus TZ departs from its Toyota Highlander cousins to offer a truly bespoke luxury environment. The cabin is dominated by a massive infotainment screen that extends elegantly toward the front passenger, creating a shared digital experience.
Comfort is paramount in the TZ. It is the first Lexus model to feature ventilated seats and power-adjustable leg rests for the first two rows. Thanks to the extended wheelbase, third-row passengers finally enjoy genuine legroom, making it a viable option for large families.

The premium experience is rounded out by a world-first: the longest sliding panoramic sunroof in its class, complete with electric sunshades, and a breathtaking 21-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system.
Performance and Charging Capabilities
Under the hood (or rather, under the floor), the Lexus TZ is powered by dual electric motors delivering a combined 408 horsepower. Even with a substantial curb weight of 2,630 kg, the SUV remains nimble, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 5.4 seconds.
Battery and Range Options
Buyers can choose between two battery configurations to suit their driving needs:
- Standard Battery: 76.96 kWh
- Extended Range Battery: 95.82 kWh
Lexus estimates a range of approximately 483 km per charge, though European specifications may see this climb up to 530 km.
Fast Charging for the Modern World
For the North American market, the Lexus TZ adopts the NACS (North American Charging Standard) port. This allows for rapid charging, capable of boosting the battery from 10% to 80% in just 35 minutes with a maximum charging capacity of 150 kW.
Market Availability
The 2027 Lexus TZ is expected to hit the US market toward the end of this year. While official pricing and final detailed specifications are yet to be released, the TZ is positioning itself as a formidable challenger in the luxury electric SUV segment, proving that “green” can still be exhilarating.
