At the recent Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, Li Auto turned heads with the unveiling of the next-generation L9 chassis technology, specifically showcased in the L9 Livis. This isn’t just another luxury SUV; it’s a vehicle designed to solve some of the most frustrating problems drivers face on the road and off the beaten path.

Revolutionary Individual Wheel Adjustment

The crown jewel of the L9 Livis is its advanced chassis system, which allows the vehicle to raise or lower each wheel independently. This process is remarkably swift, completing a full adjustment in just five seconds.

While the system automatically optimizes ride height based on load and road conditions for daily commuting, it truly shines in “emergency” scenarios. The ability to lift a single wheel transforms the ownership experience in two major ways:

  • Effortless Tire Changes: No more struggling with manual jacks on uneven ground. The car does the heavy lifting for you.
  • Off-Road Recovery: If the SUV gets bogged down in sand or mud, the driver can lift a stuck wheel to easily place recovery boards underneath, allowing the vehicle to escape the mire quickly.

To ensure safety and prevent accidental damage to the suspension, Li Auto has integrated dedicated “Tire Change” and “Ride Height” modes directly into the infotainment system, accessible with a single touch.

Performance and Range Efficiency

The L9 Livis is a spacious 6-seater extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). It is powered by a high-capacity 72.7 kWh NMC ternary battery supplied by CATL, delivering an impressive pure-electric range of up to 340 km.

For those long-haul journeys where the battery runs low, the vehicle maintains efficiency with a fuel consumption rate of approximately 6.4 liters per 100 km. Under the hood, it features the new L3E15CA 1.5 engine produced by Li Auto’s Suzhou branch, delivering 154 horsepower and pushing the top speed to 200 km/h—a 20 km/h increase over the first-generation model.

Built for Versatility and Power

The L9 Livis isn’t just about smart tech; it’s built for real-world utility. Unlike its predecessor, the Livis version now boasts a towing capacity of up to 1,500 kg, making it a viable option for those who haul trailers or camping gear.

Key Technical Specifications:

  • Wheel Options: 21 or 22-inch rims.
  • Weight: Unladen weight between 2,755–2,835 kg; Gross vehicle weight of 3,435 kg.
  • Off-Road Geometry: Approach angle of 20 degrees and a departure angle of 22 degrees.
  • Pricing: Listed at 559,800 yuan (approximately $80,685 USD).

With its blend of luxury, raw capability, and futuristic chassis engineering, the Li Auto L9 Livis is positioning itself as a leader in the evolving landscape of intelligent SUVs.
