Experience the new Mercedes C-Class Electric. 759km range, 800V fast charging, and pure luxury. See what’s coming in 2027!
Mercedes-Benz is expanding its electric horizon. While the brand has already established a strong presence with the G-Class and CLA, the compact luxury sedan segment remained an untapped opportunity. Enter the Mercedes C-Class Electric—a bold, all-electric reimagining of one of the world’s most beloved executive sedans.
A Bold Departure from the “EQ” Legacy
Interestingly, Mercedes has opted to drop the “EQ” prefix for this model. While the EQE and EQS carry the branding of the electric sub-brand, the C-Class Electric stands on its own. Despite sharing the name with its internal combustion counterpart, this EV shares zero mechanical DNA with the gas-powered C-Class, marking a complete architectural rebirth.
Performance and Range: Pushing the Boundaries
Built on the cutting-edge MB.EA platform, the C-Class Electric is the second model to utilize this dedicated EV architecture, following in the footsteps of the GLC Electric. Mercedes describes it as the most athletic C-Class ever produced.
Battery and Efficiency
- Battery Capacity: A robust 94.5 kWh pack.
- Range: The C 400 variant boasts an impressive range of up to 759 km.
- Power: Dual electric motors delivering a combined 482 horsepower.
- Acceleration: 0-100 km/h in a blistering 4.1 seconds.
One of the standout mechanical features is the new two-speed automatic transmission. The first gear is optimized for explosive off-the-line acceleration, while the second gear focuses on high-speed efficiency and energy conservation.
Ultra-Fast Charging for the Modern Driver
Say goodbye to long charging waits. Thanks to a sophisticated 800V architecture, the C-Class Electric supports DC fast charging up to 330 kW. Mercedes claims that a mere 10-minute charge can add up to 318 km of range, making long-distance travel more seamless than ever.
Design: Coupe Elegance Meets High Tech
The C-Class Electric adopts a sleek, coupe-like silhouette that blends aerodynamics with luxury. The front fascia is a digital masterpiece, featuring a grille embedded with 1,050 tiny LEDs and iconic three-pointed star headlights.
Inside, the experience is even more transformative. The electric platform allows for a wheelbase 97mm longer than the combustion model, significantly increasing legroom for both front and rear passengers. The cabin is topped with a standard panoramic glass sunroof and offers a generous total storage capacity, including a 470-liter main trunk and a 101-liter “frunk” (front trunk).
A Tech-Forward Sanctuary
The interior is a showcase of Mercedes’ digital prowess. Drivers can choose between two MBUX configurations:
- Hyperscreen: A singular, seamless glass panel spanning the entire dashboard.
- Superscreen: Three distinct but fluidly integrated screens.
Adding to the ambiance is the “Sky Control” ceiling, adorned with 162 shimmering stars, creating a celestial atmosphere. The vehicle also features a next-generation automatic climate control system that heats or cools the cabin twice as fast as traditional models, complemented by a premium Burmester sound system.
Market Competition and Availability
The C-Class Electric enters a fiercely competitive arena. Its primary rival, the BMW i3, offers a longer range (up to 899 km) due to a larger battery, but Mercedes counters with superior charging speeds and luxury refinement. Other contenders include the Hyundai Ioniq 6, the upcoming electric Lexus ES, and the anticipated Audi A4 e-tron.
When can you get one? The Mercedes C-Class Electric is scheduled to debut first in the United States, with sales officially commencing in the first half of 2027.
