Japanese automaker Mitsubishi unveiled the 2026 version of its popular MPV, the Xpander Hybrid, at the Bangkok Motor Show 2026. Thailand becomes the first market in Southeast Asia to offer the new hybrid model.

Pricing and Availability

In Thailand, the standard Xpander Hybrid is priced at USD 28,700, while the more rugged Xpander Cross Hybrid commands USD 29,600. Both trims are slated for immediate sales, marking the start of a regional rollout.

Powertrain & Performance

The hybrid system pairs a 1.5‑litre naturally aspirated gasoline engine (92 hp, 134 Nm) with a 112‑hp electric motor delivering 255 Nm of torque. Energy is stored in a compact 1.1 kWh lithium‑ion battery, and power is sent to the front wheels. Drivers can choose from seven distinct driving modes to optimise efficiency or performance.

Chassis, Suspension & Wheels

The underpinnings remain unchanged from the previous Xpander generation. Front suspension uses a MacPherson strut with anti‑roll bar, while the rear features a torsion‑beam setup. All‑round ventilated disc brakes provide confident stopping power. The vehicle rides on 17‑inch alloy wheels wrapped in 205/55 R17 tires.

Exterior Highlights

  • Full‑LED lighting system with sleek daytime running lights
  • Reinforced front and rear bumper guards
  • Heated rear window for quick defogging
  • Automatic rain‑sensing wipers

The overall dimensions are identical to the conventional gasoline‑only version, ensuring the same spacious cabin and cargo capacity.

Interior & Technology

Inside, the cabin features black synthetic leather seats accented with copper‑tone trim. An 8‑inch LCD instrument cluster sits behind the steering wheel, while a 10‑inch central infotainment touchscreen supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety & Driver‑Assist Features

The 2026 Xpander Hybrid comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including:

  • Blind‑spot detection with lane‑change assist
  • Lane‑departure warning
  • Rear‑cross traffic alert while reversing
  • Standard ABS/EBS, brake assist, traction control, hill‑start assist
  • Rear‑view camera and six airbags

Event Details

The Bangkok Motor Show ran from March 25 to April 5, 2026, showcasing the latest automotive innovations from the region and beyond.

With its blend of affordable pricing, hybrid efficiency, and a robust feature set, the 2026 Mitsubishi Xpander Hybrid is poised to attract families and urban commuters throughout Southeast Asia.
