The Porsche 911 GT3 RS Manthey set a blistering time at Nurburgring, but a new rival has emerged. See the specs and lap times here!

The Nurburgring Nordschleife, famously known as the “Green Hell,” continues to be the ultimate proving ground for the world’s fastest machines. Recently, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Manthey Kit took on this challenge, delivering a performance that left enthusiasts breathless—though the victory proved to be short-lived.

The Engineering Marvel: Manthey Racing’s Touch
The Porsche 911 GT3 RS Manthey Kit is not your standard track toy. It is a meticulously tuned version developed by Manthey Racing, a specialized outfit in which Porsche holds a 51% stake. Because of this close partnership, the Manthey packages are essentially considered “factory-approved” upgrades, blending race-track precision with Porsche’s legendary engineering.

To push the car to its absolute limit, Porsche tapped Jörg Bergmeister, a seasoned veteran and a specialist of the Nurburgring, to take the wheel. Bergmeister’s expertise was pivotal in carving through the challenging corners of the circuit to shatter previous benchmarks.

Blistering Speed and Technical Specs
On April 15, 2026, the team officially announced a staggering lap time of 6 minutes 45.389 seconds on the 20.832 km configuration. This achievement is nearly 4 seconds faster than the commercial version’s record set back in 2022.

At the time of the announcement, this time placed the GT3 RS Manthey among the elite, trailing only the Mercedes-AMG One (6:29.09) and its sibling, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Manthey (6:43.3), in the rankings of the fastest commercial vehicles to ever tackle the track.

Under the Hood: Power and Aerodynamics
The secret to this performance lies in a combination of raw power and cutting-edge aerodynamics:

- Engine: A 4.0L naturally aspirated boxer 6-cylinder engine.
- Performance: Delivering a maximum output of 525 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque.
- Aerodynamics: The specialized exterior kit allows the car to generate over 1,000 kg of downforce at 285 km/h, effectively gluing the car to the asphalt.
- Investment: This level of performance comes with a price tag of approximately $600,000.
A Bittersweet Victory
However, in the world of hyper-performance, records are meant to be broken. The celebration for Porsche and Manthey lasted less than a day. Shortly after the announcement, Ford shook the automotive world by unveiling the Mustang GTD Competition.
The high-performance American muscle car officially clocked in at 6 minutes 40.835 seconds, leapfrogging the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Manthey and claiming a new spot among the fastest cars at Nurburgring.
While the title of “fastest” may have shifted, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Manthey remains a masterpiece of precision engineering, proving once again that the race for dominance at the Green Hell never truly ends.
