Jaguar Land Rover cuts prices for Range Rover SV models in India thanks to the UK-India FTA. Discover the new luxury SUV pricing today!
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has sent shockwaves through the ultra-luxury automotive sector by announcing significant price reductions for its flagship Range Rover SV and Range Rover Sport SV models. This bold strategic move is designed to capitalize on the upcoming Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the United Kingdom, effectively passing the tax benefits directly to the consumer.

The Impact of the UK-India FTA on Luxury Imports
The primary driver behind this price adjustment is the anticipated reduction in import duties for Completely Built-Up (CBU) vehicles arriving from the UK. As both the Range Rover SV and Range Rover Sport SV are manufactured in Britain, they are prime beneficiaries of the new trade framework. Interestingly, JLR has opted to implement these price cuts immediately, preempting the official enactment of the agreement to gain a competitive edge in the market.
Breaking Down the Price Cuts
The price adjustments are substantial, making these exclusive SUVs significantly more accessible to high-net-worth individuals in India. The details are as follows:

- Range Rover SV: Reduced from 42.5 million rupees (approx. $447,000) to 35 million rupees (approx. $368,000).
- Range Rover Sport SV: Reduced from 27.5 million rupees (approx. $289,000) to 23.5 million rupees (approx. $247,000).
In total, some buyers could see savings of up to 7.5 million rupees (nearly $79,000), a rare occurrence in the ultra-luxury segment where prices typically trend upward.
More Than Just a Price Drop: Added Value
Beyond the cost reduction, JLR is enhancing the exclusivity of these vehicles. The Range Rover SV now comes standard with SV Ultra Metallic paint options, available in both high-gloss and satin finishes. Previously a premium add-on, this feature now comes included, providing owners with a more bespoke aesthetic without the extra cost.

Which Models Are Not Affected?
It is important to note that this pricing update does not apply across the entire JLR portfolio. The following models will maintain their current pricing:
- Locally Assembled Models: The Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar, and Discovery Sport are produced within India and therefore do not rely on the UK-India FTA for tax relief.
- European Imports: The Defender and Discovery lineups are manufactured in Slovakia, placing them outside the scope of the specific UK-India trade benefits.
A Global Perspective on Luxury Pricing
This move highlights the volatility and sensitivity of the luxury car market to trade policies. For context, the pricing disparity remains stark across different regions. In the Vietnamese market, for example, the Range Rover SV 4.4 P615 is positioned significantly higher, starting from approximately 28.3 billion VND (nearly $1.1 million), while the Range Rover Sport SV 4.4 P635 starts around 15.8 billion VND (approx. $600,000).
By lowering the barrier to entry in India, JLR is not only anticipating policy changes but is actively putting pressure on other luxury SUV competitors in one of the world’s fastest-growing wealth hubs.
