Geely is expanding its lineup in Vietnam with the new Okavango 7-seater SUV. Discover the specs, features, and predicted pricing here!

Following the buzz surrounding the new-generation Coolray, Geely Vietnam is once again capturing the market’s attention. The brand has officially teased a new 7-seater SUV, designed specifically for urban families who need versatility, space, and modern technology.

A New Family Powerhouse: Meet the Geely Okavango
While Geely has not officially named the model in every announcement, industry insiders and dealership leaks suggest that the vehicle is the Geely Okavango (known as the Haoyue L in the Chinese domestic market). Dealerships across Vietnam have already begun accepting deposits, signaling that a formal launch is imminent within this year.

Sophisticated Design and Spacious Dimensions
The Okavango adopts a neutral, boxy design language that prioritizes utility without sacrificing style. This aesthetic is particularly appealing to family buyers who value interior headroom and cargo capacity. It shares some DNA with the current Geely Coolray, featuring elegant chrome accents on the grille and exhaust tips that add a touch of premium flair.

In terms of size, the SUV is a formidable contender in its class with the following dimensions:
- Length: 4,860 mm
- Width: 1,910 mm
- Height: 1,770 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,825 mm
Tech-Loaded Interior for the Modern Era
Step inside, and the Geely Okavango feels like a digital sanctuary. Much like its smaller sibling, the Coolray, the interior is centered around a driver-centric layout but expanded for three rows of passengers. High-end features include:
- Advanced Displays: A massive 12.3-inch infotainment and instrument cluster.
- Luxury Touches: A panoramic sunroof that floods the cabin with natural light.
- Safety First: A comprehensive ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite and a 360-degree camera.
- Innovative Visibility: A specialized “transparent chassis” mode, allowing drivers to see obstacles directly beneath the vehicle.
Performance and Drivetrain
Under the hood, the Okavango is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, delivering a robust 215 horsepower and 325 Nm of torque. This power is managed by a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and a front-wheel-drive system, ensuring a smooth and responsive ride through city traffic and on long highway journeys.
Pricing and Market Competition
Although Geely has yet to release official pricing, dealership consultants suggest that the Okavango will be positioned aggressively to attract budget-conscious families. It is expected to launch with two trim levels:
- Standard Version: Starting from approximately 760 million VND.
- Premium Version: Expected to exceed 820 million VND.
Upon its official release, the Geely Okavango will enter the competitive D-segment SUV market. It will go head-to-head with established giants such as the Ford Everest, Mazda CX-8, and Hyundai Santa Fe, offering a compelling alternative for those seeking high value and modern features at a more accessible price point.
