Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) has issued a safety recall for the premium SUV Land Cruiser Prado. A software fault in the 12.3‑inch digital instrument cluster can prevent critical warning lights from appearing, prompting TMV to call in 563 vehicles for a free update.
What’s the issue?
During start‑up, the cluster’s 3D graphics module may fail to load. When this happens, alerts such as engine oil pressure, coolant temperature, battery charging, and other safety warnings remain invisible to the driver. The problem is limited to the software that controls the instrument panel, not the hardware itself.
Who is affected?
The recall covers Prado units produced between July 17, 2024 and June 23, 2025. All 563 affected SUVs are registered in Vietnam. The model is sold as a single, Japan‑imported trim priced at VND 3.48 billion (approximately US$148,000).
How will repairs be handled?
Owners will receive a notification from their local Toyota dealer inviting them to schedule a service visit. Technicians will reinstall the updated cluster software, a process that typically takes between 0.9 and 1.6 hours. The service is completely free of charge.
For non‑officially imported Prado vehicles, TMV will verify ownership details before authorising the same complimentary update.
