The battle for dominance in Vietnam’s urban SUV market has reached a fever pitch. As we enter the second quarter of the year, a fierce price war has broken out between two of the most popular contenders: the Mazda CX-5 and the Ford Territory.
Ford Territory Kicks Off the Price Cut
The American automaker took the first move in early April, when Ford Vietnam announced a surprise adjustment to the listed prices of several models, with the Territory seeing the most significant changes.
According to the new pricing structure, the Trend version has been reduced by 23 million VND, bringing its price down to 739 million VND. Meanwhile, the higher-end Titanium and Titanium X variants have both seen a price drop of 21 million VND, now retailing at 819 million VND and 875 million VND, respectively.
These price adjustments apply to the recently launched Territory facelift. Furthermore, some dealerships in Northern Vietnam are offering additional cash incentives ranging from 1 to 5 million VND for customers who place orders within April, making it an even more attractive proposition.
Mazda CX-5 Responds with Aggressive Inventory Clearance
Mazda was quick to respond to Ford’s offensive, launching an even more aggressive discounting campaign to clear out its 2025 VIN inventory.
Reports from dealerships in Hanoi indicate that the Mazda CX-5 Deluxe is now being offered at approximately 685-690 million VND—a staggering drop of over 64 million VND from the official list price. The discounts aren’t limited to the base model; the Luxury, Premium, and Premium Sport versions are seeing reductions between 65 and 68 million VND.

- Luxury: Dropped from 789 million VND to 720 million VND.
A Seismic Shift in the SUV Hierarchy
By pushing the price of the CX-5 below the 700 million VND mark, Mazda has effectively repositioned a C-segment SUV into the price territory of B-segment vehicles. This move puts immense pressure on competitors like the Toyota Yaris Cross, Mitsubishi Xforce, and even the A-segment Suzuki Fronx.
For consumers, this is a golden opportunity to upgrade to a larger, more luxurious vehicle for the price of a smaller city car. However, potential buyers should be aware that these deep discounts primarily apply to specific stock remaining from the 2025 production run. Availability of colors and specific trims may vary by dealer.
