Huawei and Chery’s joint venture, the Harmony Intelligent Mobile Alliance (HIMA), has just revealed the first prototype of its upcoming MPV, the Luxeed V9. The vehicle combines premium design with cutting‑edge technology, most notably a “hug‑around” airbag that envelops the occupant’s head and torso during a crash.
Revolutionary Hug‑Around Airbag System
The Luxeed V9 is equipped with a head‑protecting airbag that deploys from the seat back, along with side airbags that work together to create a protective cocoon around the passenger. In the event of an impact, the seats automatically shift to a safer position, ensuring the airbags envelop the occupant effectively.
Luxurious, Family‑Friendly Interior
The cabin features a 2+2+3 seating layout with two independent, zero‑gravity seats that swivel 180 degrees and include footrests. Passengers enjoy three seamless displays, an overhead entertainment screen, a built‑in oxygen generator, a refrigerator, and a sleek dashboard powered by HarmonyOS.

Powertrain and Record‑Breaking Range
Under the hood, the V9 runs on Huawei’s Snow Owl Intelligent Silent Range Extension System. A 1.5‑litre turbo engine works as a range extender for the dual‑motor setup, paired with a 37.0 kWh LFP battery and a 53.4 kWh ternary lithium battery supplied by CATL. The combined output reaches 154 hp. According to WLTC testing, the pure electric modes deliver 158 km, 210 km and 223 km ranges, while the extended‑range configuration pushes the total travel distance to roughly 1,200 km on a single tank of fuel.
Pricing and Target Audience
Production‑ready units are slated for launch in the first quarter of 2025, with prices ranging from ¥400,000 to ¥500,000 (US$57,400–71,700). The V9 aims at affluent families and business executives, positioning itself against rivals such as the Li Auto Mega, Zeekr 009 and Voyah Dreamer.
Dimensions and Design
The MPV measures 5,359 mm long, 2,009 mm wide and 1,879 mm high, with a 3,250 mm wheelbase. Its front fascia mirrors the signature Luxeed language, featuring a distinctive LED light strip, chrome‑accented trim below the lights, and a full‑width rear lamp that glows blue when the advanced driver‑assist system is active.
Brand Background
Luxeed is a collaborative brand launched in 2023 by Huawei and Chery as part of HIMA. The lineup currently includes the S7 sedan and R7 SUV, offered in both BEV and EREV versions. According to China EV DataTracker, Luxeed delivered 81,391 vehicles in the first eleven months of 2025. The V9 will become the flagship model for 2026.
