Chinese automaker Chery has filed a recall with the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) covering more than a thousand of its popular Jaecoo J7 sport‑utility vehicles. The recall also includes the Tiggo 7 model, but the focus of international coverage is the Jaecoo J7, which is marketed under that name in Vietnam and several other countries.
What’s being recalled?
The recall targets 1,108 units produced between April and December 2025. These vehicles belong to the Tansuo 06 (Jaecoo J7) and Tiggo 7 lines equipped with the 1.6‑litre turbo engine. Each affected car carries the internal batch code S2026M0007V.
Why the defect matters
During assembly, the fixed‑clamp that secures the engine‑control unit (ECU) wiring harness was sometimes installed incorrectly. An insecure clamp allows the wire bundle to vibrate and wear away its protective coating over time. When the insulation erodes past a critical point, the ECU can lose connection, resulting in an abrupt engine shutdown while the vehicle is in motion.
Such a sudden stall not only leaves occupants stranded but also creates a serious collision risk for surrounding traffic, especially on highways or during lane changes.
