Mazda Vietnam has announced that deposits for its upcoming full‑size SUV, the CX‑90, will start being accepted from the end of September. The automaker expects an official launch in the second quarter of 2025, with deliveries to follow shortly after.

Deposit Phase and Expected Launch

Dealership staff confirmed that while exact delivery dates are still being finalised, the CX‑90 will arrive on Vietnamese roads early in the second half of 2025. The model is being imported rather than locally assembled, which may affect pricing and availability.

Design Language and Interior

True to Mazda’s KODO design philosophy, the CX‑90 retains a sleek, sculpted silhouette enriched with chrome accents both outside and inside. The cabin closely mirrors the current CX‑8, offering a familiar layout for local drivers. Interestingly, the central infotainment screen is slightly smaller than the one slated for the upcoming CX‑5, underscoring Mazda’s focus on driving dynamics over sheer screen size.

Powertrain Options

The CX‑90 will be offered with two electrified powertrains:

  • 2.5‑liter plug‑in hybrid (PHEV): combines a gasoline engine with an electric motor for a total output of about 323 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It can travel up to 42 km on pure electric power.
  • 3.3‑liter turbo mild‑hybrid (e‑Skyactiv‑G): delivers 340 hp and 500 Nm, paired with an eight‑speed automatic gearbox and permanent four‑wheel drive.

Both configurations are expected to be sourced from Japan or Europe, reinforcing Mazda’s global engineering standards.

Pricing Outlook

Given the advanced powertrain technology and premium positioning, analysts predict the CX‑90 will be priced above VND 2.5 billion (approximately USD 105,000). This places it at the top end of the large‑SUV segment in Vietnam.

How It Stacks Up Against Competitors

Current rivals in the same bracket include:

  • Volkswagen Teramont – VND 1.998 billion
  • Hyundai Palisade – VND 1.469–1.589 billion
  • Ford Explorer – VND 2.099 billion

Even though these models feature smaller or less powerful engines, their prices hover around the VND 2 billion mark, underscoring the premium nature of the CX‑90.

What’s Next?

Potential buyers can place a reservation deposit starting late September, with the first showroom displays already set up at Mazda’s flagship outlet in Ho Chi Minh City. Keep an eye on Mazda’s official channels for the exact launch date and full specifications.
