After an extensive testing phase, BMW has officially launched the brand‑new all‑electric sedan – the BMW i3 50 xDrive. Unveiled as a flagship model at the global debut, this high‑performance EV showcases BMW’s latest technology platform, Neue Klasse.

Design Inspired by Vision Neue Klasse
The second vehicle built on the Neue Klasse architecture, the i3 embraces the sleek “2.5‑box” silhouette first hinted at in the 2023 Vision Neue Klasse concept. Its front end features BMW’s iconic “four‑eye” face, where the grille and LED headlamps merge into a continuous light strip, delivering a bold and futuristic appearance.

Dimensions and Aerodynamics
Measuring 4,760 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,480 mm tall with a 2,897 mm wheelbase, the i3 offers a cabin that is noticeably roomier than the internal‑combustion BMW 3 Series (G20). The standard 21‑inch M Aerodynamic alloy wheels are sculpted for optimal airflow, enhancing both sportiness and efficiency.

Powertrain and Performance
At the heart of the i3 50 xDrive are two electric motors that together generate a staggering 469 hp and 645 Nm of torque. While exact 0‑60 mph figures and top‑speed numbers remain under wraps, the combined output positions the i3 squarely in the high‑performance electric sedan segment.

Charging Speed and Driving Range
The vehicle supports up to 400 kW DC fast‑charging, allowing roughly 400 km of driving distance after just ten minutes of charge. On a full charge, BMW estimates a maximum range of up to 900 km, depending on driving conditions.

Exterior Colour Palette
Buyers can choose from eleven exterior finishes, including solid paints, metallic hues, and a special matte option. A standout exclusive shade – M Le Castellet Blue – highlights the model’s sporty character.

Innovative Interior and Technology
The cabin is equipped with the new Panoramic iDrive system, featuring a curved glass‑covered display that spans the driver’s field of view. BMW’s “Shy Tech” steering wheel incorporates hidden touch controls and haptic feedback for intuitive operation without diverting attention.

Ambient lighting runs along the interior roof rail, customizable via “My Modes” to suit mood and personal style. Interior trims are offered in five packages: Essential, Contemporary, BMW M Design World, BMW Individual, and M Sport, each with distinct colour and material options.

Production Timeline and Pricing
Production of the i3 50 xDrive will commence at BMW Group’s Munich plant in Germany starting August 2026, with the first units slated for delivery in Q3 2026. Pricing details have not yet been announced.
