Just five months after its global launch, Toyota’s new compact off‑road SUV, the Land Cruiser FJ, has rolled onto Thai showrooms. Assembled locally at the TMT Ban Pho plant in Chachoengsao, the model starts at 1.269 million baht (≈ $38,700) and will be showcased at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2026.

Design language – a modern retro twist
Inspired by the legendary FJ40, the Land Cruiser FJ adopts a retro‑styled exterior that echoes the current trend set by models such as the Ford Bronco and Suzuki Jimny. Its dimensions—4,610 mm long, 1,855 mm wide and 1,890 mm high—place it firmly in the compact SUV segment, while a 2,580 mm wheelbase provides a balanced stance. Ground clearance reaches 245 mm, giving it a water‑wading capability of up to 700 mm.

Standard 18‑inch matte‑black alloy wheels are shod with Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires (265/60 R18) and the vehicle features front and rear disc brakes.

Colour options
Buyers can choose from three factory finishes: Smoky Blue, Platinum White Pearl Mica, and Ash Grey.

Interior – high tech meets comfort
The cabin mirrors the Land Cruiser Prado’s layout, featuring a 7‑inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3‑inch central touchscreen. Upholstery is full‑grain black leather, with an 8‑way power‑adjustable driver’s seat and a 4‑way power passenger seat.

The rear bench slides forward or backward in five steps and folds at a 40° angle, expanding cargo capacity from 765 L to 1,522 L with a 45:55 split‑fold configuration. A dual‑zone climate system incorporates air‑filtering technology that removes PM 2.5 particles.

Powertrain and drivetrain
Under the hood sits a 2.7‑litre 4‑cylinder 2TR‑FE engine delivering 166 hp and 245 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a six‑speed automatic transmission, complemented by a rear‑axle differential lock. The front suspension uses a double‑wishbone layout with coil springs, while the rear employs a four‑link setup with coil springs.

Safety and driver assistance
Toyota Safety Sense equips the FJ with forward‑collision warning, lane‑departure alert, blind‑spot monitoring, and A‑TRC traction control. Standard tech includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a smart key, a six‑speaker audio system, USB‑Type C charging ports, and more.

Pricing and market launch
In Thailand, the Land Cruiser FJ is priced from 1.269 million baht (about US $38,700). The model will be on full display at this week’s Bangkok International Motor Show, signaling Toyota’s commitment to expanding its compact off‑road lineup in Southeast Asia.

What’s next?
With its blend of nostalgic design, capable off‑road mechanics, and modern tech, the Land Cruiser FJ aims to capture both adventure seekers and urban drivers. Stay tuned for updates on availability, trims, and optional accessories as the vehicle rolls out across the region.
