After the strong debut of the 911 Dakar (992.1) in 2022, Porsche is now testing a mid‑cycle upgrade of its off‑road sports car. The prototype was spotted in northern Sweden and is built on the upcoming 992.2 platform slated for a 2024 launch.

Exterior Tweaks Highlight the 992.2 DNA
The refreshed Dakar keeps the sleek silhouette of the 992.2 series but features a slightly re‑engineered front bumper that emphasizes its rugged character. Updated LED headlights add a modern touch, while the nose adopts a subtler, off‑road‑ready look.

Raised Ride Height and Classic Wheels
Thanks to a specially tuned suspension, the ground clearance jumps to 191 mm—significantly higher than the 992.1’s 165 mm. The model also sports retro‑styled Fuchs five‑spoke wheels that blend heritage with performance.

Active Aero Meets Function
Unlike the previous Dakar’s fixed, oversized rear wing, the test mule carries the standard electrically‑adjustable rear spoiler found on the 911 Carrera (992.2). This offers better aerodynamic balance without sacrificing the car’s aggressive stance.

Powertrain Speculation: T‑Hybrid Potential
The original 911 Dakar was equipped with a 3.0‑litre twin‑turbo flat‑six delivering 480 hp, matching the 911 Carrera GTS (992.1). The facelift is expected to inherit the 992.2 Carrera GTS’s powertrain, including the T‑Hybrid system. If so, combined output could reach roughly 541 hp and 610 Nm of torque, pushing the Dakar’s performance envelope even further.

What This Means for Off‑Road Enthusiasts
With a higher chassis, refined aerodynamics and a possible hybrid boost, the new 911 Dakar aims to blend Porsche’s track heritage with true off‑road capability. The upcoming version could become the benchmark for high‑performance rally‑style sports cars.

Stay tuned for official specifications and launch dates as Porsche continues to develop this exciting variant.
